NJ Devils best:

1995: Shawn Chambers and Danton Cole for Ben Hankinson and Alexander Semak.

Chambers was huge in the playoffs, often partnering with Scott Stevens

2000: Alexander Mogilny for Brendan Morrison and Denis Pederson

2002: Jamie Langenbrunner and Joe Nieuwendyk for Jason Arnott, Randy McKay and a first round pick.

Didn't pay dividends right away, but was a big part in the 2003 Cup win, plus Langenbrunner was an excellent player with the Devils for a long time afterwards.

NJ Devils worst:

2001: Sean O'Donnell for Willie Mitchell.

Technically a week before the deadline, but close enough. O'Donnell was useless in the playoffs and Mitchell went on to become one of the best shut down defensemen in the league for a long time

The bad trades the team has made seem to be more in the offseason or in February.

Worst: Oates in 2002. Traded a bust 1st round goalie pick (Oullett), but also traded away a 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the 2002 draft. At least the Caps didn't do anything with those picks to make it worse.

Best: Zhitnik for Coburn. Even though this was during the Flyers worst season in their history (so it didn't propel them to a Cup), they somehow got a young prospect in Coburn and got rid of Zhitnik. An absolute steal, and one of the bigger fleecing's in recent memory.
