Just looking for some advice from people on the best solution for cord cutters to watch leaf games. I'm more than willing to pay for a service, but I haven't been able to find a decent one for years.

I live in Ottawa so half the games are blacked out which is easy enough to get around using a VPN. However, if I push the feed through my Chromecast that changes the location and the blackout is back. For half the games I end up using an HDMI connection to my tv from my iPad which is finicky.

I've tried several IPTV services and countless kodi sports apps and they've all been garbage. They'll work for a short period then flake out when they're no longer supported.

Watching live feeds from random streams on Reddit also infuriates me because the quality is less than mediocre and I usually have to reconnect a couple times during the game.

It shouldn't be this hard for paying customers to watch hockey without purchasing a cable or satellite service.

Anyway, just looking for some suggestions because right now my best bet looks to be game center again which I'd really like to avoid.

Pretty sure TSN and Sportsnet both have their own streaming services you can subscribe to in order to stream their channels.

Can’t do that with my setup. I watch the game on my iPad and stream it to my tv from there. NHL.tv on an iPad uses gps location for your location, not dns. I use IPVanishVPN and my router doesn’t support that so I can’t do it at the router level either. I’ve looked into it and don’t want to buy a new router. I’d also prefer a non nhl.tv solution if possible because not being able to watch the intermissions is annoying as well.
Centre ice has the intermission stuff, but not pre and post game which sucks. And that’s interesting you say that because when I try and watch on my iPad/iPhone on my wifi it blacks me out, if I stream on LTE it works (but beats the data up)

It’s weird. The behaviour changed last season for me. I’m in Ottawa and not a single game is blacked out when I watch it on my iPad. But as soon as i cast through my chrome cast at least 50% of the games are blacked out so I’m forced to use the HDMI cable.

If you get TSN or Sportsnet....on cable.

No..? You can subscribe without having cable, but people with cable do get it included for free. $25 per month for each so it is somewhat pricey but cheaper than getting a whole cable package.

tv service providers are starting to hand out some incredible deals, in the toronto area. home phone, unlimited internet and the"popular" tv package that includes 4 tsns and the sportsnet channels, 84 bucks a month, which turns into 96 a month after taxes. Pretty inexpensive now. I can remember paying 80 something just for tv 10 years ago.

I was a cord cutter for 5 years back on the stuff now. lol

I try these, but our satellite internet is terrible as is, 25mbps Is the max speed I can achieve. And they hardly ever want to stream cleanly on my ps4. Games through the nhl app work just fine though.
The trade offs of country life I suppose

I live the country life too.

My max speed is 5 mbps

No that’s not a typo

Stream from your computer to your TV. You may have less issues with that way

for streaming consistent latency is just as important as bandwidth... 25mbps is more than enough bandwidth for a high def stream.
