Indeed... Barkov could be on a third line in a shut down position, but if that would be the case, he shouldn't get Laine on his wing. Barkov + Laine is a stellar start to a first line.

Finnish teams Olympics 2022 and knowledge of current talent:

Rantanen - Haula - K.Kapanen
Aho - Mi.Granlund - Teräväinen
Laine - Barkov - Donskai
Tolvanen - Borgström - Osala

J.Honka - Heiskanen
Vatanen - Nutivaara
Ristolainen - Lindell
Määttä

Koskinen
T.Rask
(Rinne)

I really don't agree with Honka being in the lineup whatsoever.

My take (with fairly balanced lines and role dependent lines):

Laine - Aho - Teräväinen
Tolvanen - Barkov - Granlund
Rantanen - Haula - Donskoi
Vesalainen - Borgström - Lehkonen

Armia
Kapanen
(Kakko, Kotkaniemi and Kupari good candidates)

Heiskanen - Vatanen
Lindell - Ristolainen
Määttä - Nutivaara

Jokiharju (hard to tell how developed he'll be)
(Saarijärvi/Juolevi)

Koskinen?
Raanta
Saros

You had Tolvanen twice, I strongly believe Kaapo Kakko will make the team because he’s 21 in 2022 and seems to be NHL ready after his draft season, or atleast the season after that.

Kakko as Tolvanen young talent of Finnish prospects.

Oops my bad I'll fix it.

Kakko could make the team yea, but I'm hestitant on adding future draftees since it's not uncommon for top 5 picks to either bust or take awhile to find their game and making team Finland will be a lot tougher in 2022 compared to now

To old lineups.

I will pickup these:

Tavares, McDavid, Crosby, Barzal, Bergeron, MacKinnon, Scheifele, Toews, Benn plus more younger player.

I still hope, World Cup of Hockey will happen before the next Olympics.

As to Russian roster (for 2020 year)... Well,

Panarin - Malkin - Kucherov
Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Tarasenko
Gusev - Anisimov - Kaprizov
Radulov - don't-know-who (hope, Khovanov will become a player, but not sure at all) - Svechnikov
Dadonov, Buchnevich

Zaitsev - Provorov
Tryamkin - Zadorov (Big Bang Pair)
Gavrikov - Sergachev
Kiselevich

Bob
Vasya
Shesterkin or Sorokin
I don't care about NHL Cup of Hockey. If you do, you support Gary's destroying of international hockey.

Team Russia 2022:

Datsyuk - Datsyuk - Datsyuk's geriatrist.

Realistically and seriously it's too early to tell.

Obvious choices are obvious:

Ovechkin - Kuznetsov - Tarasenko
Panarin - Malkin - Kucherov
Gusev - x - Kaprizov/Svechnikov

Provorov - Sergachyov
Orlov - Zaytsev
Zadorov

Bobrovskiy
Vasilevskiy

LOL

Gary did nothing to destroy international hockey.

The worst part of international hockey has been and will always be the IIHF but really international hockey hasn't really been destroyed at all.

If you don't let you pay for this weird BS by Gary&Friends you are missing out on income. Just saying. If you are good at cheap propaganda, don't do it for free.

He's aging extremely well, but in 2022 he's going to be 36. It's pretty rare for players to age so well that they'd make one of the better Olympic teams at that point in their careers.

He'll still be 6'5 and one of the better passing wingers in the league IMO but you are right it's not a lock.

I'm not one to pretend to know when a guy's career is going to end (not saying you are) so if people are still putting Patrick Kane on the team then I see no reason Wheeler couldn't make it.

Offence looks really good and so does the goalies. Defence is a little worrying.

Pretty certain that in 2022 both Elias Pettersson and Lias Andersson will be on a theoretical Swedish Olympic squad. Time will tell

As a homer, Laine is too low. Where are Vesalainen and Niku for Finland?

Also, please explain the absences of Trouba, Connor and Wheeler. Hellebuyck just had the most wins ever by an American goaltender. You wanna put him in the press box?

Haula might have a chance to crack that roster but it's not given. He certainly won't be centering the first line (Barkov and Aho are both already better players than him). You can probably drop out Kapanen (unless he becomes absurdly good two way player) due to depth in the winger pool, Donskoi and most definitely Osala.

I'm not sure if your referring to actual talent or actual current ability. Heiskanen should be the #1D by then but he isn't one now, yet you have him ahead of Ristolainen (who by the way is RHD).

Anyhow, this roster and the lines particularly aren't even close to reality looking long term and you might not even have guessed the goalkeepers correct, because Saros will overtake Rinne by 2022 and possibly outplay the rest as well.
