A little OT, but remember the Quebec Citadels?

Well, I was thinking if the DELL computer company bought a hockey team and put it in Quebec City, they could be the Quebec City Dells.....(insert groan here) :help:

Bob Gainey went to France in the early 1990's for a few weeks to coach the Epinal Squirrels...

There was a Tropical Hockey League that existed in the late 1930's , with four teams worthy of mention:

1938-39 Tropical Hockey League
Coral-Gables Seminoles
Miami Clippers
Miami-Beach Pirates
Havana Tropicals

The Spokane Canaries from 1916-17 and Saskatoon Sheiks from 1921-23...

As a kid, always wondered why would a team call themselves as "Whalers".

Now I love the name. :)

I heard (or read) that since the New England WHA team didn't have a nickname in its first few days, they went by the New England WHA'ers -- with the apostrophe looking like the letter L and thus the Whalers were created.

Favorite names:
Miami Screaming Eagles (of course)
Cincinnati Stingers
Quebec Nordiques (when said in French)
California Golden Seals
San Francisco Spiders
Binghamton Broome Dusters
Beauce Jaros
Chicoutimi Saguenéens
Trail Smoke Eaters
Minnesota Fighting Saints
San Antonio Iguanas
Non-hockey: San Antonio Gunslingers of the USFL
