Nate Hagemo.

I crack up every time the Minnesota announcer says his name.

Hag-e-mooooooooooooooo(mo as in mow).

Orest Kindrachuk, Jeffy Chychrun, Tim Tookey.

OK. I sat on the sidelines of this thread since I figured that someone would mention this name immediately.....to my surprise, (Or more to the fact that I'm closing in on 30, while seemingly that makes me ancient on these boards) no one thought to mention the all time great hockey name........

.......GARTH BUTCHER!

His name is legendary in the great name queries.....

Here are some classic Minnesota names, nothing unusual about the first names, but the last names are cool.

Aaron Miskovich
Dave Spehar
Alex Goligoski-already mentioned

I also like Jakub Kindl (sp?)

Exactly my thoughts.

I agree with Garth Butcher. The name fit the guy; he looked like a henchman for some Italian-American criminal enterprises :)

Two others that come to mind are Sheldon Kannegiesser and Xavier Majic. Don't think Majic ever made it to the NHL but he was drafted by the Canucks. Kannegiesser played for LA and Vancouver and a few others.

Actually, Lemieux translates to "The Better" Lemeilleur would mean "The Best"

I've always found some Czech names cool:

Jaromir Jagr
Patrick Elias
Radek Dvorak
Dominik Hasek
Martin Straka

Then there's always the Russians:

Ilya Kovalchuk
Alexander Ovechkin
Nikolai Kherdev
Nikolai Khabibulin
And for some reason Roman Voloshenko.

Others besides Canada:

Peter Forsberg
Mike Modano
Tony Amonte
Nicklas Lidstrom
Andrei Kostitsyn
Ladislav Nagy
Marian Gaborik
etc...

Then obviously the Canadians:

Joe Sakic
Steve Yzerman
Ryan Getzlaf
Dany Heatley
Braydon Coburn (reminds me of fire for some reason...)
Joe Thornton
Vincent Lecavalier
Shane Doan
Sidney Crosby
etc...

Now for the funny names:

Antti Laaksonen (hilarious :joker: )
Arsi Piispanen
Kirby Law (rofl)

(excuse my finnish spelling lol)

It's Antti.

And it's not pronounced Laxonen as they say in NA.

When there are two of the same vowel in finnish, it's a long vowel sound, so it's laah -ksonehn

Nothing to do with hockey, anyways in the NBA there was a player in the 70´s & 80´s called World B. Free :teach:

Meh... The same sort of stuff could be said for every Finnish (or Swedish, Czech, Russian, etc.) name.

Anyway, my favorite Finnish name is Sean Bergenheim.

The rest are drafted by the Penguins and my personal favorites:
Moises Gutierrez (out of place)
Nick Johnson (too easy).
These just sound cool
Lukas Bolf
Tomas Duba
Brooks Orpik

Just because the name isn't finnish, eh? ;)=
Hey, don't get me wrong. I mean, Kevin Kantee is another good typical Finnish name.
