Which version of NHL has the best soundtrack and which songs stand out to you?

For me it's NHL2004 and these songs became my jam when I played

for me nhl 09. i broke my arm when the game came out and played in a conservative 8 hours a day.
when i play nhl 19 i throw the playlist on spotify because that soundtrack is trash

Rebuttal (personal): the soundtracks were never good, I would mute the game's music and listen to my own while playing.

I was actually listening to the 2008 soundtrack yesterday. I think 2004 and 2008 are my favourites.

I feel like the days of great NHL soundtracks are gone.

04 and 08 have the best soundtracks ainec

and the ability to mute certain songs, and (at least on Xbox) upload your own! I remember changing the goal songs for my BAP team

This song sounds like something written for an NHL Faceoff promo video.....Never was there a more perfect song in a hockey video game. I listen to it every October to get pumped for the season.
If you listen to the lyrics, it sounds like it could be about a hockey team going to war for the season.

If there was a game show based on identifying the menu music from NHL 96, 99, 2000, 2001 and 2002, I'd be the national champion. I can even close my eyes and hear that song that only played after you lost and didn't immediately leave the gameplay on NHL99.... Once they moved to real bands and all that, I turned the menu music all the way down and played stuff through Kazaa/Limewire/iTunes/etc. in the background.

Madden is always horrendous too, so I doubt it. Terrible soundtracks to go along with terrible games.

This MUT crap and lack of competition has completely ruined football, soccer, and hockey gaming development. Gameplay and online functionality/stats/connectivity is mostly worse than a decade ago. That's crazy.

Anyway, a lot of the soundtracks pre NHL 12 or so were really solid. I give a slight nod to NHL 02 because I loved the two Sum41 songs.

Any of the years with Protest the Hero. If I had to pick one year though, I'd say 2002, with 2004 right behind. 2004 has Deftones, so I'd say they're 1A/1B
