Rom Di Prosco was amazing in NHL 2002 too. As far as best soundtrack I'd have to go with 2004..

Autopilot Off, Gob, Less than Jake, Modern day Zero, The Ataris, Bowling for Soup, Brand f***ing new....

Yes Please

There is already a thread about the same topic, but i don't mind.

Those above pretty much sums it up for me :) The classic's are the best,
with today's copyright BS, its practically impossible to get good music on sports games
i like indie music as the next one, but not enough to not mute the music.

NHL '99, for the intro song and also the soundtrack that was composed by Jeff van Dyck.

Here's another awesome track he did for NHL '98's intro.
EA Sports NHL ’98 (1997)

Wow, if anyone ever asks what the 90's were like, I'll direct them to the NHL '98 intro. I forgot how 90's that was. I can almost see ESPN 2--I mean, "the deuce" with their hip lower case font used throughout their programming.

There's a Parquet Court song in 19, so that's quite alright. 08 was pretty good from what I vaguely remember. 06 had an early version of a Billy Talent song, which is interesting. And 03 was Queen of the Stone Age: the game. It was kinda ridiculous in a way I'm alright with.

Overall though, you could put my absolute favourite 20 songs in any NHL game, and I would end up hating them just as much due to repetition. Purple Rain is my jam; hearing it for the 30th time while doing maths and trying to figure out how to re-sign all your players in franchise mode would kinda ruin that song for me, yknow? Don't want to ruin a song with memories of Joe Colborne asking for 4 mils a year.

The spotify app on PS4 is a godsend.

It's typically all trash. It's usually garbage rock that people who enjoy their steaks cooked well done enjoy to listen to.
Yes, no kidding. I usually mute the soundtracks quite quickly, because they're godawful. I rather have silence than garbage. I have to agree with the sentiment that the soundtracks pre 2000 and around 2000 were the best, it was slowly downhill from there.

I do like my steak well done though. Meat that is red isn't dead.

some of the current gen games have good songs, but the one that really stands out to me and got me pumped to play a game was Adventure Club Crash 2.0 (NHL17 I think)

Nothing beats the 04 track though

There is literally only a couple songs that I want to listen to when they come for 19....while they put a song like "my favourite color is blue" on there for god knows what reason because it sure isn't pumping anyone up.

NHL' 97 had great original (=proprietary) instrumental heavy metal:

That must be my favourite soundtrack.

1. NHL 2002: Gob - I hear You Calling and Treble Charger - Brand New Low are fantastic songs. Also living in Canada as a kid, we all loved Sum 41
2. NHL 2004: Adema - Co Dependent, Bowling For Soup - Punk Rock 101 and Vendetta Red - Shatterday were amazing. SS Recognize by Alien Ant Farm also a classic

2003 was, I think, the first NHL game I owned that actually had songs on it. It had Jimmy Eat World, Default, Queens of the Stone Age, Treble Charger, Blindside and a band called Greenwheel who I actually saw in concert by chance a few months after the game came out. The songs were perfect for that time and I feel like the soundtrack was one of the more memorable parts of the game.

I also got into 2012's soundtrack too. Manchester Orchestra and Against Me! to go along with ELO, Judas Priest, Billy Idol and Anthrax was a pretty sweet lineup.

In that order for me.

Man, there were some really good soundtracks.

Lately, Madden and NHL have had putrid soundtracks.

Looking back now, I can totally understand why my mom was a little weirded out by me always blasting the soundtracks to these old NHL games. Some classic songs by Bullet For My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.

Then some of the lesser-known ones like Sorry You're Not A Winner by Enter Shikari in NHL 08 and Loyalty by American Head Charge in NHL 06.

The soundtracks have changed so much over the years. You'd never see songs like that in today's games.

The ones these days suck. The old ones from a few years ago were good.

"Breaking up my bonnes oh oh oh oh"

You hear that every time they score a goal lol
