Am new to advanced stats but these are some of the best resources I have found so far.

JFresh's Patreon: $5 a month. Includes Player and Team Cards and Tableau Workbooks that use Patrick Bacon's WAR model and other statistics.

Explanation of this WAR model: Wins Above Replacement — High Level Overview

Elite Prospects Premium: $9 a month or $99 for the year. Sure most people know of this site. Nothing crazy advanced here (as far as I have seen so far) but some neat features with Premium like Player Game Logs, Player Comparison, Agent data, Draft Center and EP Rinkside which has some awesome writers and great articles.

NHL Player Ratings, NHL Player Rankings

This site provides a single numerical rating of each player that I use to quickly compare players. Sort of like a NHL player rating out of 100. Seems pretty accurate so far, but I'd like other's opinion on the ratings. They also provide the method behind their number ranking here:
NHL Player Ratings Explained - Corsica Hockey

They used to have in-depth player stats to go along with rankings as well, but they've gotten rid of them some time ago. Probably due to the fact that every other site provides the same analytics.

Kind of new to this. Anyone know good resources for in-game event data (timestamps for goals, penalties, etc)? Five second googling tells me the nhl api is the way to go, but are there other better options?

No, by definition. (almost) Everyone else pulls from the NHL api - or the official NHL HTML reports.

The only exception are commercial organizations like stathletes or sportlogiq who pay people to watch and dissect games; their data is never free.

Thanks. Saves me a lot of time worrying that I overlooked something.

I wonder if the commercial guys are using mechanical turk to do their data logging...

Given the vacancy StatAthletes once published, they have a software that runs a game embedded in an interactive player, and the employee watches it and enters the information about each worthwhile event.

I saw two independent but very similar presentations (OTTHAC2018 and SEAHAC2019) about trying to analyze the video stream via ML/AI. Both seemed to hit the same wall.

A friend of mine at SAP inquired about video stream analysis WRT "which area of the boards get more audience exposure" to best sell the ad space there, but that project didn't get far too at least at the time I kept in touch with him.

Anyone know of any sites that carry expanded stats for AHL, CHL, European leagues? I don't want to call them Advanced stats because I'm just looking for ATOI, hits, blocks, that kind of thing. Just a tinch beyond the basic scoring stats which is all I can find anywhere that has AHL stats.

They have an estimated ATOI on that site. Ice time for these leagues in North America is typically kept internally (you'll have different luck in some of the European leagues, all the way up to like distance skated per game and all kinds of stuff I'm pretty sure). Proprietary data aggregators and trackers have this information, but naturally, you'd need to be subscribed to them...

Perhaps someone else can be more helpful than me...

Anybody know why the NHL.com Stats page doesn’t work on ipad. I used to go there all the time. Now when I do it looks like this:
