I wasn't following the original tournament, but why wasn't Daniel Day-Lewis included in the original tournament?

I'm guilty of recency bias in some of these choices as well but seeing Christopher Waltz beating Peter Sellers is a bummer.
I would argue Christoph Waltz' Hans Landa is in contention for the best acting performance of all time. That does a ton for me.

I can see PSH going very far in this tourney. Extremely versatile, and heck of a filmography.
Unfortunately he's up against Phoenix in the next round. Battle of The Master. That being said, Phoenix isn't doing nearly as well as I thought he would. Hackman is great but I thought Phoenix could contend with Nicholson and DDL in this.

Killer match-up, though. No real daylight between them.

Yeah Phoenix is great, but Hoffman is every bit the dramatic actor, and is much more able to effectively do both broad and nuanced comedy as well. IMO, of course.
