Wont be enough, Diaz is journeymen NHLer, dime a dozen, and Simmonds is on very good contract at 3.9m$ till 2019.

There simply cannot be any more deals involved Subban. Our d is simply not ready to handle that.

It's looking like Desharnais is not about to pull himself out of this bout of unproductivity. Luckily, this is Montreal, we all know the drill, trade him for nothing and watch him succeed elsewhere. We'll take the 3rd, and/or middling prospect and turn them into "organizational depth" and "cap flexibility".

If Briere was healthy, I'd do it now, but otherwise, you have to wonder if breaking up the Eller line and moving Galchenyuk to 3C would end up helping or hurting the team (assuming we're still going for the cup and not tanking).

The move is probably to just wait. No matter what, there always seems to be at least one line that's giving nothing and right now it's whatever line DD is on. It usually changes at some point. If it doesn't, he's familiar with riding buses around. At least we gain some "cap flexibility" with that.

Yes, Simmonds has some tools that are attractive, but nearly $4 mil is almost exactly commensurate with what he brings to the table.
