Snipped from Black Book:

MacDonald was a 2nd Round pick of Saint John (QMJHL) in the 2020 QMJHL American Draft as well as a 4th Round Phase 2 pick of Des Moines (USHL) in 2021 Phase 2 Draft. MacDonald elected to stay and play New England Prep Hockey this year instead of making the step to junior hockey. While his numbers this year for Nobles were not eye popping with 14 goals and 15 assists in 22 games, the Harvard commit did make strides in his two-way game and turned it into one of the strengths of his game which likely is some of the reason for the lack of production you would expect of a high-end prospect.

If the skating can progress, MacDonald projects as a bottom six two-way center at the next level but he is going to need a few years before he is ready to make the jump to pro hockey. MacDonald will likely sacrifice a little bit of offense in order to play a strong two-way game down the middle.
