Beltre and Helton will get in this year. Some posters will argue for others being worthy such as Abreu, Colon, Gonzalez, Mauer, and Utley, but I don't think they'll get elected.

HOF Monitor is just meant to be a very, very broad starting point, and it's no longer even a decent predictor.

Helton and Beltre get in this ballot.

Mauer will get in, but I suspect it takes a couple of years. I think he breaks 40% this ballot and adds about 10% annually.

Utley will be a little bit behind him and may never get over the hump with the writers, but I think it's a fight.

Vizquel, Rollins, K-Rod, and Holliday have zero chance.

I think Wagner needs another year. I don't support him (or almost any other reliever) for the Hall, but I suspect he gets there.

a-rod and manny aside, beltre should be the only one getting in next year from the new group

helton and mauer should get in eventually but neither of those guys are first ballot HOF'ers to me

This is Helton's sixth ballot.

Who'd I'd vote:

A-Rod (won't get in)
Beltre (should be a lock, but there will be "nOt FiRsT BaLLot" people, so he might have to wait a year)
Beltran (think he still waits another year or two cause of Astros' crap)
Manny (won't get in similar to A-Rod)
Helton (I've come around on him and he has the best shot of anyone this year)
Mauer (won't get in this year, but may eventually)

-I think Mauer, when compared to other Catchers, is a HoFer, but spending the last few years at 1B hurts him. With a weak ballot I'd throw him a vote.

-Wagner isn't a hall of famer, but if you let Lee Smith and Trevor Hoffman in, then he should be in. But they let Harold Baines so in that case there's about 176 other players who deserve to be in too so let's not just try to clear the lowest bar.

-Andruw Jones is trending his way in, it's just, man, that drop off from his last year in Atlanta and beyond. Might get in year 10, think he's a lock for one of the committees if not.

-Sheffield probably clears 60 but misses. Has a decent resume. May be a committee guy eventually, but I think the steroids will keep him out still.

oops

then i wouldn't mind seeing him get in this year. beltran's another one who should eventually get in but i would make him wait as long as possible due to his association with the astros cheating scandal

All up to the veterans committee now, same goes for Bonds and Clemens.
The BBWAA have no say in that one.

A Rod could still technically get in via writers but that has a close to 0% chance of happening.

At least the veteran committee is mostly stacked with baseball players/managers/executives so that gives me some hope for Bonds, Clemens and A Rod.

The BBWAA voted Edgar Martinez in on his final year cause ‘he had to wait out the process’

f*** those old dinosaurs.

Edgar Martinez had to wait until his 10th year of eligibility because he was a DH with 309 career home runs and 2247 career hits. During Martinez' time on the ballot, he was joined by eight players with 500 HR, one player with 3000 hits, and one player with both. Martinez was a 68 WAR player, his wait was hardly unusual for someone with his credentials.
