I agree - a thread for this is a fine idea.
Personally, I'm supporting Traktor Vitebsk, because the club is so very like Newcastle United:
north-east club
black and white striped shirts
large crowds (average attendance of 14,000 per game - a greater number than the capacity of most stadiums in the league)
a distinguished history (in the Soviet days the Moscow giants always found it a difficult place to play, and they've ever been associated with passing football)
less silverware than they should have won (inevitable given the political realities of the Soviet Union; avoidable in the modern era when they've been plagued by bad ownership, especially the chap currently presiding: controversial oligarch and electric goods magnate Mikhail Deshevov)
nearly men in the 90s (four top three finishes)
history of iconic number 9s (the current incumbent, Brazilian Jeison, is a lot more prolific than his compatriot Joelinton, though)
They're currently sixth, with three wins, a draw, and two defeats. They tend to win 1-0 or lose without scoring - another NUFC parallel.
Their chances of winning the league are remote, alas.
