My understanding is the Barons had a player vote on captains, and Taylor wasn't with the team as he was rehabbing his shoulder in edmonton. I think he would have been wearing one if he was there.

Either he stays he stays on as captain for the length of his contract, or he is traded after this year, as his salary comes down to $3-4M/year and Hall's extension kicks in. But I doubt anything happens this season.
