Nothing special really, about the same as any thin athletic sock. If you want a good pair, I'd spring for the premiums because I really like how the 37.5 works.

Personnally I hate those types of socks. I feel they are too tight for my comfort. But I understand job they do.

Yeap, go for the Elite NG Bauer socks with 37.5 technology. I've had mine for 100+ times on the ice and they have held up perfectly. There is a comfort knowing I don't have to worry about getting cut from my foot to my knee, the 37.5 technology works great too.

I have a few pairs of them and swear by them. They are thin, comfortable and seriously durable compared to other socks I've tried.

I wear the long socks, haven't tried the short version.

I don't doubt there are probably better socks available at a higher price, but I've found them good enough that I haven't even entertained the thought of trying anything else.
