Johnny Candido, brother of Chris Candido, broke the unfortunate news that ECW Original Balls Mahoney (Jonathan Rechner) has passed away.

Details are unknown at this point, but Candido said Rechner, who turned 44 years old on Monday, says a friend who lives near Rechner’s home told him about ambulances and police vehicles parked in front of the house. When he called to see what was going on, Rechner’s wife answered, and told him the unfortunate news.

Watched him a good amount in ECW. Wrestlers dying so early, it's so sad and just insane. I guess it's not a lifestyle/culture that caters to the human body

He was part of what made ECW fun back in the day. So sad just with the ECW deaths in 2016: Just from Heat Wave '98 as an example,Balls, his partner Axl Rotten, and Hayabusa have passed away in just the last 3 months.

Seen this talked about on a couple of other sites, and the theme people who met him keep bringing up was that he was an extremely nice person who always took time to talk with any fans who approached him. Sad to see such a seemingly cool guy die so young.

Been reported that he passed away while watching Jeopardy with his wife. That she tried CPR on him but he never responded. Pretty sad stuff. I have heard some people say that it's not an impactful death because he didn't die like many wrestlers through overdoses or such. 100% serious people are *******s.
