Funny enough from 7th to 11th grade, high school in Quebec where I grew up, I went to a private school that required us to use these...

They taught cursive to us in 4th grade and by 8th grade nobody gave a shit anymore.

To this day I use a hybrid cursive I guess you could call it except on fancier/formal letters I might have to do and my signature which are full cursive. I guess it might come down to my job and having an officer notebook which I write in all the time.

Does it really matter whether ballpoint pens were the milestone technology that killed cursive writing? It was only a matter of time before touch pads for signatures made illegible names the norm in validating personal identification.

I went to an American run international school in Hamburg followed by a British run international school in Bonn before returning to Canada.

All three schools taught different forms of cursive writing and I ended up abandoning the practice to pigeon scratches.

This is actually pretty interesting, it had never occurred to me that I was being forced to use the wrong tool for the job.

I have definitely noticed in my own children (who can't even read cursive, let alone write it) that their hands get tired VERY quickly while writing even in print. There's no telling what sorts of arthritis could be traced back to ballpoint pens in the generations who were forced to write hand-cramping schools essays and fill out paperwork in triplicate as a full time job.
