Everyone develops at different levels and guys have different situations to enter. He was blocked from the NHL in LA, and he doesn't get the ice time here that he might have received elsewhere.
Which is also not an indication that he won't start at some point.Which is in part because he hasn't played well.
Well, there's only so much time to wait that you just have to make a call on whether you think he'll make it or not. It's not quitting on players too fast, it's determining the odds as best as one can and make a judgment based on this determination. And his current play can definitely be taken as an indication he won't put it together at some point. You gotta be honest with that. Sure, there's also a chance he becomes a great player, but you can't blame people for criticizing him at the moment and thinking he'll fizzle out.Which is also not an indication that he won't start at some point.
There are no indications that he won't put it together at some point. Just like JVR...
People quit on players too fast....no patience.
Yes I can.but you can't blame people for criticizing him at the moment and thinking he'll fizzle out.
He's a less-talented JVR, but he hits and plays a physical game, so everyone wants to show patience with him
The double standards around here are truly hilarious.
Alex Semin = Lazy Russian floater; Danny Briere = Playoff Hero
JVR @ age 21 = BUST ; Brayden Schenn @ age 21 = He needs more time
Yes I can.
Its dumb....at 21 years old.
I'm fine with being upset that we are forced to depend on Schenn and Couturier producing and Voracek turning into a scorer.

I didn't say to give up on him. I was merely pointing out that being on the Flyers is not why he's not getting more ice time, it's because he hasn't played well. In fact, his ice time had gone down (although it went back up last game).
Pedigree and hype can only get you so far though.
this all the way. he would need to not produce for another two yrs for me to start calling him a bust. even then i would be hesitant.
JVR at 21 did need more time, anyone who suggested otherwise would be equally wrong as those suggesting it's time to start worrying about Schenn. Some may have a double standard but many don't.
When JVR wasn't playing well, he was a defensive liability, and not producing. When he was playing well, he was a legitimate top-six forward. He's a less-talented JVR, but he hits and plays a physical game, so everyone wants to show patience with him
