I guess that means they're planning on having Miska as the No.3 on the taxi squad for good.

I forgot that Eagles signed him to an AHL deal last season. He was a good goaler in college, but nothing more and nothing less.

Frankie is gone and the Avs now have the worst goaltending in the league. Or at least the worst depth.

Not sure why people think this reflects on Frankie. They need another goaltender in the AHL and one on the taxi squad.

The Avs didn't need to grab another goalie for the Eagles. Jones was already signed there and the Eagles might be signing Gahagen soon too. Along with Miner that will be there until the Dub starts up. This is about having another NHL contracted goalie.

So Annunen isn't coming over to play with the Eagles this year?

So Annunen isn't coming over to play with the Eagles this year?

He has a Euro Assignment clause, so he could just want to stay in Finland for the rest of the year and 'refuse' unless the Avs called him to the NHL. But it just doesn't make sense to bring him over from Finland until their season ends. The AHL is going to have a weird shortened season and who knows when it will really start up. Having Annunen come over then quarantine, just to end up playing less games doesn't make sense for him. His season will probably end in late April, bring him over then if the Avs need him, but not prior.

Thanks. I didn't know he was signed to play there. I thought he was coming to NA to play in the AHL all along.

They didn’t have the cap space to carry a third goalie on the 23 man roster. And if you say put him on the taxi squad my head will explode.
Non smart ass answer... they actually could have. It would have taken a subsequent move like waiving Cole, but they could have

They couldn’t have though. It would have taken an extra day for Cole to clear through waivers. The only way they could have done it was to send Makar to the taxi squad for a day and make him lose out on a full day of NHL salary which would have been one of the worst cap managing ideas of all time lol. Either that or LTIR Frankie/Burakovsky but it seems like they’re more so day to day.

Plus we’re forgetting the main reason they couldn’t have claimed Dell.... New Jersey did lol. They’re above us in the priority line.

You can waive on the same day and be in compliance, so they could have waived Cole the same day right after claiming and it would have been fine. I’m not speaking to Dell in general, but that the Avs could have claimed a goalie. The larger mistake was not getting a guy this off-season. The Frank deal in general from last season is looking more and more questionable too
