Confirmed with Link: Avs re-sign Dries, add Miikka Salomaki, Kiefer Sherwood and Mike Vecchione

Not sure if this was pointed out by anyone already, but Sherwood is another Blue Jacket connection with MacFarland.

He's from Columbus first of all, and went to Miami of Ohio, but his brother Kole was signed by Columbus in 2015. The summer MacFarland switched to the Avs.

After Kole's AAA season was over, he played 3 games with the Youngstown Phantoms in the USHL. The same team Kiefer was playing his last USHL season with. MacFarland likely would have watched Kiefer play that year, since they were looking at signing his brother.

So there's multiple ways MacFarland would have been aware of Kiefer through Columbus.

I completely forgot about Salomaki. I'm surprised he hasn't got a chance yet as his current competition has been Dries, Megna, and Sherwood.

I watched Big Ben Roethlisberger absolutely destroy Colorado State when he played for Miami. He was bigger than any lineman on either team and even when CSU got close enough to Ben to hit him, they would just bounce right off
