Think it will be Dzingel and Lee. So Lee-Dzingel-Burakovsky second line.

If term isn't too crazy I could be okay with it. Still think Jost will be given a chance to play top 6 next season, so maybe Dzingel would end up playing on the third line with Compher.

Also, Dater reporting that Avs have been after Panarin but didn't offer numbers to him

I know this just means it was never serious but I'm having fun imagining this. "Hm...so the New York teams and Florida have offered me cold hard cash but the Avs have offered something else: a chance at adventure. Who knows what money I'll make there? I'm in."

Before everybody else will suggest their lineup in 2nd of july (Yes, I am still in ”panarin-train” :) )

Panarin - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Landeskog - Jost - Burakovsky
Nieto/Calvert - Compher - Donskoi

4line
Nieto/Calvert, Kamenev, Bourque, Greer...
+ few UFA players

—> Get rid of Wilson & Smallfoot

What do you think? Would that lineup be ”enough”?
+What could Avs get from Small(ker)foot?

Hey guys, technical question about UFAs.

How does it really work on July first? Do teams send written contracts to players that they just need to counter sign? Do agents circulate these contracts to other teams to “raise the bar”? Do agents bluff and say I was offered X by team Y? Would you get a straight answer from a competing GM if you tried to double check an agent claim? Is it all done over the phone with “handshake” agreements and then the paperwork is done afterwards?

Thanks in advance.

Think it will be Dzingel and Lee. So Lee-Dzingel-Burakovsky second line.

Who’s the center? That line sorely lacks playmaking, it’s three guys with good hands who can finish and don’t or can’t play defense.

I think Dzingel is redundant with Bura on board. Dzingel is much more proven but if we can unlock Bura, he’s basically a bigger version. Speedy, good hands, weak physical game, mediocre defensively. Dzingel is a smarter player (who isn’t?) but they are both going to fill the same role on the wing.

Lee offers something different completely. Zucc is small but is a great playmaker who makes his line mates better and plays bigger than either Dzingel or Burakovsky.

I could see Lee working really well with Jost and on the PP.

Yeah Lee would compliment Jost nicely with the man advantage. I wonder if at ES that pairing lacks speed and quickness though, you’d probably need to compliment them with an fast playmaking winger or mix up lines at ES.

I am definitely warming up on Lee - yes he’s very much a specialist but he’s great at it, he’s just good enough elsewhere to not be a dinosaur like some other power forwards, he’d be a great veteran voice in “the room” and look - dude is slow, has always been slow but he’s an athletic freak so I would really not have much concern about his game changing or declining hard as he gets older on a long term deal.

I guess for me I’d like to see one of Lee or Ferland, which ever one doesn’t have the bidding get as ridiculous. Lee is a better more consistent player but Ferland’s kamikaze speed and physicality would be great fun. Either would add something we don’t have.

Then you have the ghost of Wayne Simmonds who would probably be a fallback option if Joe is looking for this particular type of player...eek.

Can we please get in on whoever Tampa trades to sign Pavelski? Johnson? Palat?

The issue with the Burakovsky trade is I think it will make Joe a little less likely to trade his first round pick. Which, is going to make it more difficult to get a trade like this done.

We shouldn't be trading the 1st round pick anyway. Too much value slips down the board lately. So many teams with preference and system fits over pure talent.
