Fans can be stupid sometimes.

He's 27 years old, part of the problem is nothing more than sheer, dumb luck. He's shooting at something like 5% right now, which qualifies as snakebitten. It doesn't help that Armstrong went out of his way to construct a plodding forward corps up front that isn't allowing him any real room to operate. I think he'll be fine, but STL needs to do a better job building a speedier offense around him.

I don't think EJ has the same excuses, there's something else going on. I hope sooner or later we hear he's been dealing with some kind of minor injury that's slowing him down because...yeesh, he's just plain missing a step right now.

I think the main problem is secondary scoring followed by coaching. It's a coaching issue as well because the Avs almost never play a 60 minute hockey, they often get lazy, sloppy and careless when things dont go their way. And I'll mention again how bad they are in OT, in back to backs or after long breaks, this are all on coaches to make sure the team is always ready to play no matter what. I'm not saying they should be perfect, no team is perfect obviously, but the way Avs play when they lose is just careless hockey a lot of the time

    lmao sorry, Eberle.

Isles fans have been circling around to see where he might be wanted such as Dallas or Nashville. I kinda figured you guys were a one line team so maybe Eberle would help but also wondered if C was a more coveted position. So do you think Sakic would have any interest?

Elite scorers generally don't fall off the cliff. Everyone in St. Louis is underperforming.

He would be a great buy low player. Pair him with Rantanen and look out.

    Jost - MacKinnon - Rantanen
    Landeskog - Kerfoot - Tarasenko
    Calvert - Soderberg - Compher
    Nieto/Dries/Bourque/O'Conner

I think Sakic might. Colorado was the other team who tried to get him from Edmonton at the time when the Islanders originally acquired him.

My opinion is he’s small like a lot of other Avs forwards, but this team is hurting for secondary scoring.

Any rumors yet or are we still sitting here waiting for Sakic to get the roster some help as the fans have to watch another season get wasted?

I seldom miss Avalanche games, but I missed the mid-December Avs-Blues game.

However, the game before that (Nov 30) I didn’t miss. Tarasenko was flat out dominant against the Avs.

I’m not sure what’s going on with that dumpster fire if a Blues team this year. But if they’re willing to move star players before addressing the goaltending and/or making a coaching change, I hope Sakic is all over that.

I wouldn't get your hopes up on that one.

-Teams don't trade within division as they have a higher chance of backfiring
-They would want pieces that the Avs aren't in a position to be moving
-Tara is probably a bit too old for the Avs plan.
-If they want an older top 6 winger there will be plenty to grab in UFA

Ah, okay. C is definitely where they're hurting (unless they just bite the bullet and put Soderberg up there but they'd rather crash and burn than do that). Honestly I think he'd be a good add, but I'm guessing the Avs have more serious needs and probably won't be a team looking to deal for him. Specifically, beyond the obvious need for a 2C, they need a guy who can get the job done in front of the net. Their net-front presence has improved in recent years, especially this year, but they just don't have a guy who can get to rebounds consistently and score the dirty goals. It could be a big guy like Anders Lee or a little guy like the late Marek Svatos, I don't care either way but they're ultimately limited on what they can do there until they get that type of player.

I would think if a team was looking to deal for Eberle it'd be a team like Carolina who need scoring talent like no one's business.

I wouldn't expect much, this has always been a wait and see year to see where they guys are at and winning/losing streaks are all a part of that. If the Avs are in a solid playoff spot come deadline I could see him finding some moderately priced help but I wouldn't expect any short term fix for something like this that happens to every team over the course of the year. Good GM's generally never sell low during losing streaks

There are SO many good players in this years UFA that will all command huge money that there wont be enough for everyone. So there will be guys like Eberle or Zucc who smart teams will likely be able to get for steals of a deal as UFA. Those moves are usually where the real steals happen and I wouldn't be surprised at all.

When you think about UFA you really should just make like a depth chart of who is out there and you start to see how much crazy talent is out there. There are legit top 6 impact players that are getting lost in the void its so deep, like Joe Pavelski.

Side note: I am the biggest fan of Lee and oh my god would he be such an amazing fit on this team. I just don't see NYI letting their captain go.

My hopes aren’t up at all, to be honest. That said, if the Blues truly do gut it, I could see a trade within the division, whether it be with Colorado or another team.

Also Tarasenko just turned 27 last month, he’s only a year older than Landeskog.

If STL decides to fully blow it up and go rebuild then MAYBE you could negate the division issue, however all the other issues are still there. It is unlikely the Avs would be the highest bidder and they have little to no incentive to give up a ton of assets when there are 10 other top 6 wingers in UFA this year that they can get for free on similar deals.

For comparison the last we heard was that Stl wanted Necas from Car at a minimum.

I very much doubt the Blues blow it all up, Buffalo has their 1st this year or the next. Armstrong is already sweating in his chair and handing the Sabres a very high 1st will get him fired.
