Hey gang,

I thought I’d create a general Avs discussion thread while the NHL suspends play.

We already have a Coronovirus thread, so I thought this one could be more about Avs hockey talk pertaining to the break.

Things like how they will look when/if the NHL resumes play, healthy potential line combos, stuff like that.

Who’s down for vintage GDTs for old, classic Avs games?

We pick a day/time for the week. Post the link. We can all watch and comment throughout the game.

I dunno, I just don’t want to let you guys go.
Not a bad idea during any potential upcoming self-quarantine. Especially for some of those who haven’t been watching the team since ‘95 (and before, not forgetting you Nordiques fans).

Edit: I wouldn’t mind watching Roy’s first game in an Avs uniform, I’m sure some of the commentary is golden.

- Avs first game
- Roy’s first game
- ‘96 Cup (Sakic 18 goals and 34 points in playoffs)
- Blood Feud with Detroit
- ‘99 5 goal third period comeback (Foppa 5 points)
- ‘01 Cup
- Sakic scoring 500th goal
- Sakic scoring 600th goal
- Roy breaking wins record
- Sakic’s final game
- Foote’s final game
- Roy first game as coach (Ducks bloodbath)

We could go on and on.

Get me a list in order and I'll start cranking out the lineup cards.

I’d love to watch the one where Sakic fakes the slap shot, bringing Scott Stevens to his knees. It was so long ago I don’t even remember the result of the game, just the moment. I was so young at the time.

And I know it’s recent, but the Avs comeback against Calgary in the playoffs last year is one of my favourite Avs games in recent memory. The one where Rantanen tied it in regulation and won it in overtime. Amazing game.

This sucks... but now I think they can pass ST Louis. Maybe Wilson even gets healthy.

Does Wilson even have a place in the lineup now that we have Namestnikov?

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Burakovsky - Kadri - Donskoi
Nuke - Compher - Namestnikov
Calvert - PEB - Nieto
Jost

f*** I forgot how deep our forward group is when we're healthy.

Some random games in there would be nice as we wouldn’t remember the outcome.

Yeah, would like to see KGB line ride again. I've watched so many of the highlight videos that some of the games will be real familiar in regards to the highlights, but it will be so fun to see Podein, Hinote, Messier, Klemm and other un-sung heros again.

Wilson would be rusty AF but otherwise it would be close. I’d pick Wilson probably for the playoffs.

Favorite play in that '01 Jersey series was Sakic coming around the net along boards in the offensive zone and CRUSHING Scott Stevens. Taste of his own medicine. Was fantastic series and season!
