Not pairings, just in terms of right/left handed, in no particular order. I don't really see any locks on the right side.

Yea, I would say only Suter is a lock.

Thank you Pierce Hawthorne, that's exactly the kind of info I was hoping for.

When do they make final selections? Right up until the games begin?

Also no shock Landy has been announced as invited to Sweden's camp.

I still think that Duchene makes team Canada. He is just such a fast player and it will really show in international ice. Defensive game last season was pretty good last season. I see him ahead of players like Kunitz, Neal, and Giroux.

As did Canada, Benn over Lucic, Methot,ALzner, staal over Girardi. Smith(lol) over Ward, Holtby aswell?

Wasn't surprised that Ward was passed over. What's he really done these past few years? He hasn't even proven himself in the World Championships where he lost the starting job to Smith this past year. Ward is pretty much done Team Canada wise.

I have a question here for someone more knowledgeable than I.

Paul Stastny was born in Canada according to Wikipedia, why does he then play for the US National Teams???

EDIT - Nevermind, I just found it further down the page...

Paul was born in Québec and i think he lived there untill he was 5 or 6y old , that's where Peter got traded from the Nordiques to NJ and later St-Louis. So Paul spent most of his life in the US .

I think Varlamov, Landeskog and Hejda will definitely be there, Stastny and Johnson probably (moreso Stastny) and hopefully Duchene, and I hope they all do well. Would love to see Sweden or Russia win and have someone a Cup away from Triple Gold.

Not sure why everyone has Hejda as a sure bet to make the team.

Only 1 expert out of 4 actually has Hejda on the Czech team:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=678233

http://thefarmclub.net/2013/02/24/sochi-2014-hockey-preview-team-czech-republic/

Also, Varlamov is projected to be the third goaltender for Russia :

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=677926

Konstantin Barulin (KHL Goalie) is pretty much a main-stay All-Star over there and will probably get the nod.

Not a single person had Duchene on the Canada team.

I was referring to people on our boards, as for Varlamov he'll be Russia's number one if you trust what Bill (Russia's HC) is saying.

Duchene, Stastny, Landeskog, Varly, and Hejda. HM to Parenteau if he keeps playing like last year.

I really don't think Johnson makes it at this point. Unless he has a stellar start to the season and comes out like a gang buster.

I think EJ's performance in the 2013 WC is enough to consider him a safe lock IMO.

I wouldn't put any stock in these guys' predictions, hell 2/3 have Kaberle on their teams.

As for this Barulin guy I bet he doesn't get even picked as one of the 3 goalies. The only time he's played as a starter for Russia was in WC and they finished 4th in 2011, with Varly they won a gold 2012 and silver 2010. Varly would have to be a train wreck to not be on the team and for Barluin to start Bob,brzy and varly would have to be dead. I'd be shocked for him to make it let alone start.

Put me in the group that calls EJ a lock for USA too.

Played arguably the best hockey of his entire hockey career at the last Olympics. He was also fantastic in a form of "audition" this past spring at the World's. USA has a huge mix of bubble guys for sure, but Johnson will be there based on past performance alone.

No, he isn't. The players are listed in alphabetical order so Varly is last on the list. The guy in the middle, Slava Malamud, already said he thinks it's a toss up between Varly and Bobrovsky right now. If they put up similar stats in the first few months next season, he thinks Varly will be the starter.

I don't see why E. Johnson, currently, is seen as guaranteed to be in.

Suter, Yandle, Shattenkirk, Byfuglien, McDonagh, Orpik and J. Johnson are who I'd put on the team ahead of him.

Only two of those guys are RH. Maybe there's your answer right there?

Suter-EJ
McDonagh-Shattenkirk
Orpik-Byfuglien
Yandle

Would absolutely take Erik Johnson ahead of Jack Johnson, especially if you already have capable puck movers like Yandle, Shattenkirk and even Byfuglien or Suter on the squad.

Handedness doesn't seem like an important reason for picking a team to me. Or maybe I'm underestimating it.

I think people around here are underrating EJ for the piss poor defensive group and coaching we've had for the last few years. Like RS said he had a fabulous last Olympics and is one of the more experienced guys who has played in a gold medal game. That alone gives him and advantage. Pair him with Suter, J Johnson or Yandle and see what he can do.
