Guy is absolutely frustrating player to watch

Looks like star for a week , Disappears for months

The Sox blew it not trading him during that fluke allstar year

The classic holding onto player for too long based on his "Potential"

Guy is going to be 28 early this coming season and its unlikely he magically turns it on and becomes consistent allstar , etc

He is what he is at this point

Sounds like a decent pickup for the Rays. Though as the above poster said it depends on what version of Garcia the Rays get.

He had one good year after not doing anything. The idea that another team was going to give the Sox something of real value after 2017 just isn't realistic. The underlying numbers screamed that he was going to regress.

Who said to trade him after 2017?

I wanted to trade him at allstar game for whatever we could get. I didn't want a king ransom I wanted some young arms in single A or AA

So after a good half of a season,, not even a full one, you wanted to trade him. You weren't going to get anything of value. Ever other team saw what he had been before.

He had one good year driven by an almost .400 BABIP. Don't think his trade value was ever uber high.

Never said it was

Like I said there was talk of interest in him at deadline that year but Sox didn't want to move him believing he had finally "Broke out"

I would have traded him for a pair of young arms and advocated them doing it
