He consistently improved while the team around him consistently got worse. That's why the 53 points he put up on a historically bad team was so impressive to those of us that suffered through watching it.

But yes his totals were disappointing if you weren't an avs fan.

yeah ok then man

his numbers are more in line with guys like ennis and hodgson in buffalo, yandle or oel (dmen) in arizona, and bo horvat of the same draft on also terrible teams than of someone who was thought to be a gamechanger

those 3 seasons were disappointing no matter what team he was playing for

nothing to do with him now, hes an absolute warrior out there but it wasnt looking good

He had a down 2nd season, that's true but he's showed major progress consistently since then.

He started that third season flashing the dominance that we've season over the past year; as Mack was nearly PPG until injuring his hand/wrist a third of the way into the season...despite the rest of the team starting extremely flat and Roy blender'ing hard because he was using MacK to get everyone else going.

Then came the 4th season when -- on a historically incompetent team -- he was producing a similar proportion of his team's goals to guys like Seguin & Tarasenko, while leading the 2nd leading scorer on his team by a wider margin* than anyone but McDavid...*as a proportion of their team's total goals.

So again; those seasons were disappointing to his fantasy owners, but many avs fans were pleased with the development that we saw on the ice...especially given what was happening around him.

But have you seen how much they are getting outshot :sarcasm:

So they stacking up their first line and it works for them, ya?
Not exactly the best recipe for success in a long run and especially playoffs though
Out of Jost, Kerfoot, Kamenev, Bowers, Kaut, Shyverev, Greer, and Lewis they'll have at least a good 2nd liner and a couple of good 3rd liners. Two 1st in a good year for forwards should also help the 2nd line.

Exactly. And while the secondary scoring hasn't been great lately, the bottom 9 hasn't been bad defensively at all.

Sadly at the expense of you Sens fans the good times may only get better.

And I'm being sincere here. I wish nothing but losses for the Sens but as a fan who endured a number of bad, bad years for the Avs I certainly know the pain this season could bring the Sens Fans.

At least so far you guys are doing ok.

What even is this post.

That is just amazing. I always knew Colorado had the talent on paper to be way better than they were the past few seasons. Even though I am a Kings fan, I have a soft spot for Colorado because I grew up in the era when they were elite. I hope they do well this season.

MacK is so good it’s not even fair. Amazing that he only turned 23 a month ago, guy is going to be a force for years to come.

My fantasy team looks brilliant right now. I had some internal qualms with drafting MacKinnon and rantanen but I'm pretty happy now

They need to be good because the second line is below average league wide. Luckily for Avs, MacKinnons skating makes it hard for opponents to completely shut them down since he forces teams to give him ice or get burned.

Bruins top line has 36 points in 7 games. Although technically they were all scored in 6 games since they were shut out opening night. They play game 8 tonight.

Crazy how good that line is. Its a different situation to the Avs line too. With the Avs all three of those guys are top picks and were supposed to be high scorers (except landeskog). Bruins have Bergeron, who was always known as a beast defensively and good for 50-60 points but not elite numbers. Marchand, who was known for being a pest and being good for 40-60 points but again, not supposed to have elite numbers. And Pastrnak who was a late first.

Its like all three guys found their offensive game at the same time and also really clicked as a line at the exact same time. Pretty special thing going on there. And thats coming from an Avs fan so I should be saying how that line doesn't even come close to the Avs line. Avs line AINEC!!

The best thing about this team is the long and cost efficient window thats about to open up. EJ/Soda/Varly wont be here forever, and with 2 1st round picks, Kaut, Bowers, Makar, Timmins barring his concussion recovery, Macks contract, this team is going to be cost effective and loaded for the next 5-6 years.

With how much the Avs jumped around in the standings under Roy and how much of an actual dumpster fire they have been, it's been hard to nab top tier free agents as well. Avs are gonna have the money and the draw to land some real and already developed secondary scoring in the next few years and got dayum am I excited.

I did an extrapolation of MacK's offense that year where I pointed out that if he was surrounded by better players on a club which scored at a similar place to the Leafs he would have been a 70+ point scorer that year.

Hardly a surprise when the Avs did better he was also putting up points. What was surprising is the next gear he found to pace at 100+.
