On May 6, 1997 the National Hockey League established an elite team for the bottom one percent of its players. Its purpose was to teach the lost art of complete and total offensive apathy and to ensure that the handful of men who graduated were the laziest hockey players in the world.

They succeeded.

Today, the League calls them the Carolina Hurricanes. The players call it:

Last time, the Hurricanes shot down the Flyers over home waters, causing CINC-Philly to pull the ejection handle on Coach Peter Laviolette. There are more bogeys on the radar though as the Flyers make another attempt to strike PNC Arena.

Will the Canes and Flyers choose to settle this with a volleyball match instead (shirts vs skins, natch?) Or will the only Mighty Wings in sight will be at McDonalds after the game?

Man, while I love the elaborate GDTs, it's hell on mobile devices.

All the videos and pictures loading at once crashes the browser.

If only the team effort was as high as the GDT effort.

On another note, I think the Tlusty-Staal-Semin line would have pretty good chemistry with Seks on the back end.

FYI, the broadcast team tonight is Dave Strader and Brian Engblom.

I won't lie - I was highly tempted to mail this one in and do a redux of my clowns GDT from last season.

We lose 5-1, making the Flyers look like Cup favorites, then somehow the next team that plays the Flyers (the Devils, IIRC) makes them look like the crappy, easy to beat team that they truly are right now. Not that we're much different in that respect.

Nice work on the GDT.

In a fight with Emery I have a feeling Peters would drop to his knees to help block an upper cut only to get a nice haymaker to the jaw that he can't defend in time.

The last team the Flyers played were the Devils and they shut out the Devils 1-0.

Not saying the Flyers are good, but the Devils suck too.
