60 point player should not get more then 7. If he wants to take a nice discount for the Leafs he should sign for 6. Any more then 7.5 and it's a overpay. But then again another 60 point player in Johannson got 8..

Unless he has a monster playoffs like Drai did last year I don't think he will get 8.5
lol.

If you still don’t think Oilers fans are a cringe fest, read the OP.

Everyone's been saying that Matthews will get a 10-12 million contract next year, more than Eichel and Draisaitl and not far off of McDavid. It seems to me that he hasn't done anything to justify a contract over 10 mil. Last year Draisaitl scored more points than Matthews career high, as well as a monster playoff. (best g/gp and p/gp, 0.46 and 1.23). Everyone still called his contract an overpayment.

Unless Matthews goes lights out these playoffs, I don't see him getting over 10 million.

Why don’t you Oiler Fan Boys reminisce about how you were suppose to win the SC and are instead one of the worst teams in the NHL again. Don’t worry about other teams players, worry about how badly PC is gonna mess up your team yet again.

It really is bizarre that so many think Matthews will get 11, but Laine and Barzal, who are better according to HF, are quoted at getting around 8 to 8.5 to 9.

im sure it is posturing so when Laine gets paid less than Matthews it will be "because he is more of a team player and wants to play on a winning team" and Matthews is clearly a selfish individual player. Its all pointing to that becoming the next reason why "laine is better than Matthews" just wait and see

We hope your right, but it's unlikely his agent is that moronic.

Actually their thing is watching this youtube video of fake Leaf fans watching the McDavid draft, usually after we beat them. Never seen anything like it.

Cool except he has never got 77 points like Drai has and never got 16 points in 13 playoff games like Drai has. Maybe next season he will and great. But for now he is not worth over 8.5

You're living in a fantasy land if you think he would get less than that.

  • He's gone ppg& scored 40 goals, Drai has achieved neither.
  • He destroys Drai in his +1& 2 seasons and has 1 more year left on his ELC.
  • He neither has a 2x Art winner on his line.

3 elite seasons >>> 1 elite season.

2nd fiddle points are different when you talk to the main show.

Matthews is better than Draisaitl, much better, and he'll get paid accordingly to that.

Matthews should get between $8.5 (Draisaitl) and $10 million (Eichel). No way he comes anywhere near McDavid (nor should anyone for that matter).

Eichel's contract is a good comparable as of now. Although, that could change if Matthews has a ridiculous run this post season.

I don't see Matthews or Laine in that 12.5M McDavid wheelhouse. McDavid won the Art Ross and Hart as the most hyped up prospect since Crosby. No young star right now can touch him.

4 years at 8 mil, sound about fair...

Giving Matthews a bridge is a good way to cost yourself a lot of money in the long run. If he wins a cup on the bridge and the cap goes up, he's going to want toews money, while being 3x the player toews was.

Lou better start selling organs

Look at McDavids trend currently... If we bridged him, and we continue to suck and he wins a 3rd Art Ross. Like, it's pretty much automatically league max or he walks.
