This is a better place to post what I did in the other thread, what are your thoughts after the first go of this?

people claimed more teams would feel the need to make moves because they couldn't make them later.

then the dodgers, yankees, red sox and some fringe teams decided to just stick with what they have instead of paying rip off prices.

bumgarner would probably be moved in august once the fairy dust runs out on the giants. the yankees would have found their starter on the scrapheap and gotten by until the playoffs when you really only need 3 starters anyway.

the point is, mlb tries to fix these things and out think people who are paid to out think other people. it doesn't work.

now the teams that are shit are going to be shit for two more months and the ones who need help are just going to spin their wheels for two more months. fantastic.

It probably should be around August 15th. By then, you have about 40 games left.

But having 1 deadline and no funky waiver stuff is still good, IMO.

Just make it August 15th. Pirates didn't sell their closer because they were "still in it".

They didn't keep him because they were "still in it", they kept him because he is on a pretty cheap contract and they set their price and it wasn't met, if the Dodgers had been willing to part with two or more of their top prospects he would be gone

False. Pittsburgh knew they were cooked at the at deadline. Vasquez wasn't traded because he is controllable for 4 more years on a very friendly deal for an elite closer and they just didn't get what they felt was the proper value for him.
