The Sam Pollock division is down to the two top regular season teams, how would they fare in a best-of-7 series?
Game 1:
Ray Bourque is solid in the opener. Goal and an assist, and some phenomenal shutdown play. Norm Ullman and Andy Bathgate add goals in the third, while Frank Boucher adds the lone Gladiators goal. 3-1 final. MCG 1-0
Game 2:
The Gladiators respond to Game 1 with a strong defensive start. Frank Frederickson scores an early goal on Vlad Tretiak, who plays near flawless. Paul Coffey adds a power play goal in the third, and Tommy Dunderdale scores late, but it's not enough. 2-1 Gwinnett. TIED 1-1
Game 3:
Vladislav Tretiak steals the show in Georgia. He stops 20 first period shots, and stays golden until the third. Ray Bourque and Norm Ullman score the Monsters goals. And Frank Foyston would squeeze a puck past Tretiak shortly after. An empty netter by Alf Smith secures a 3-1 victory for the Monsters.
Game 4:
All Gwinnett in Game 4, Frank Boucher and Frank Foyston align forces and score goals. Jacques Laperriere is solid and contains the first line with George Boucher. Paul Coffey adds a goal and Andy Bathgate replies for the Monsters lone goal. TIED 2-2
Game 5:
Gwinnett capitalizes on some early power plays, but so do the Monsters. Ullman and Smith for the Monsters, Frederickson and Coffey for the Gladiators. This one needed overtime. Tretiak is strong, and Ray Bourque would lift the Monsters to victory in the dying seconds in the first overtime. 3-2 Monsters. MCG 3-2
Game 6:
Laperriere and Boucher are impassable. But Bourque and Green also play well to stop the Gladiators potent offense. This one goes down to the wire, and a late goal by Normie Ullman makes all the difference. 1-0 final, and the Monsters take the series in 6 games. MCG 4-2
