I like my boys in this one. Both teams are talented, but the Tigers have the edge hitting wise.

The Expos have a fantastic bullpen, but I don't think it helps that much against a team with the likes of Cobb, Ruth, and Foxx.

I'd be interested to see the head-to-head numbers. Clemens vs. Koufax game 1. Koufax was almost unbeatable in the postseason as well and as arguably the best lefty ever (with perhaps the best curveball ever and a scary 100 mph fastball) is a good answer for Cobb and Ruth. I could even walk Ruth when needed like the Cardinals did in 1926. ;)

As for Clemens, we all know what he did in the postseason. My lineup gives few breathers 1-7 and my 8th batter is a fire breathing roid monster with a 163 OPS+.

I don't think it's a no-brainer who wins game 1. I will post the matchups later, have to work.

Game 1: Hanshin at Montreal [I predict Montreal wins game 1 if you are going with this batting lineup.]

[You finished ahead of me, so game 1 is in Montreal. This is a lot closer than at first glance. Cobb and Ruth make your OBP and SLG pop. My fielding is much higher. And Koufax's numbers are a lot better than Clemens', which maybe curtails your advantage in OBP/SLG. Also, it's debatable what Cobb and Ruth would have done against the best curveball in baseball mixed with 100 mph heat. They probably saw that from Walter Johnson, but probably not from the left side. To me this game gets into the bullpen, where I think I have a distinct advantage. Going forward, my starting staff has a better ERA+, even if you give Paige a 140, but I might come back with Koufax in games 4 and potentially 7 looking at these matchups.]

Game 3: Montreal at Hanshin [You win this game also - Hanshin does. So 2-1 Hanshin.]

Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown (R) (139) (No Splits available. "Ty Cobb said Brown's curveball was the most devastating he ever faced." and "Brown's fastball was, "good but not exceptional," but his curve, which broke down and away from right-handed batters and down and in on left-handers, induced grounders.")
