The Cardiac Canes more or less made a re-appearance for the first time in a long time last night. Can our beloved gentlemen who wear the white swirly logo sweaters keep the good vibe going against the Islanders er, John Tavares?

Nope. See bolded part as to why.

This is one of those measuring stick games. Not saying we're going to win, but we really need to get at least a point out of it.

I'm wary of games we're confident about. At the very least we'll have to slow down Tavares since our offense hasn't exactly been lighting it up so far.

Islanders and Tavares are a tad overrated around here. This game should be very winnable IMHO.

Tavares is good for at least 3 points against us. Thus, the Islanders will score at least 3 goals.

This team has yet to score more than 3 goals. This means the very best outcome would be 3-3 at the end of OT. However, that leads to a shootout. And we know how that ends for Carolina.

Thus, a loss is inevitable :sarcasm:

so they have Tavares.... the Canes have Staalx2, Semin, Skinner, Tlusty, ...............Nash and Bowman. they can't all "not come to play" or not "bring their A game" thereby "disappointing" coach Muller. the Islanders have Nabokov, the Hurricanes have Ward who has been stellar and can easily just "say no" to Tavares. defences stack up. team personnel has been improved overall.

team stats so far are similar and they owned them last year scoring plenty of goals. the Isles scored plenty of PP goals last season however the Cane's PK is much better now. yeah, no reason whatsoever this 'shouldn't' be a very winnable game.

Tavares will score 3 but Hainsey will score 6 so...

Hainsey over the last two games - 2 goals

Tavares over the last two games - 1 goal

Case closed. Hainsey clearly twice the goal scorer Tavares is.
