Anyways, on topic, I think Formenton is set for a breakout season. He really fits what I suspect DJ Smith will be preaching, so if he's not up right away, I don't think it will be too long before he is.

I also think having both him and Duclaire could present some matchup problems for teams with a slower D pair. Two lines with guys that have speed to burn will make it tough for opposition coaches to insulate slower dmen.

I am definitely a fan. Very strong 3rd line winger that can PK and play with extra ice in 4 on 4 3 on 3 and PP situations.
I like that he plays with an edge as well. His skating is top tier in the NHL

Formenton reminds me a bit of Oskar Sundqvist. Ha good skill and skillset but is still limited offensively. Likes to play physical, fast, good two-way player.

I think that's a realistic comparison for Formenton. 30-40 points, high quality 3rd liner.

PROSPECT WATCH: Alex Formenton has made strides on the road to the NHL

“Alex certainly progressed into a pretty viable two-way player for us,’ said Belleville coach Troy Mann in an interview this week. “We always start the season by defining roles and where we see a prospect fitting in and that’s in conjunction with the type of role we expect them to play at the NHL level.”

There’s no question Formenton has the chance to be a strong player in the NHL, but Ottawa coach D.J. Smith demands that forwards are good at both ends of the ice if they’re going to play a big role for this team and that’s something young players have to be prepared to do to make this roster.
