Lol what?
Predators are the most offensively challenged team in NHL history.
Never had a 34 goal scorer until tonight but in all fairness Arnott had 33 in 65 games and RV has 34 in 58 games so both would have probably gotten to 40 if not for injuries.

The fact that they have been competitive for a while tells something about their defense :O

Yeah its crazy. Looked at their rosters from the early 2010s they were bad. Weber leading scorer x2 i think

Poile, Trotz, and Fenton always drafted defense and Goaltending over skilled forwards. Arvidsson was a complete steal in the 4th round.
Plus they have only had 2 top 5 picks and Seth Jones was one of them. So most of the great goal scorers were gone before they drafted and when they did get a chance they drafted Radulov and him bolting to Russia in his prime hurt also.

Lol what?

People are pretending league scoring hasn't been in the gutter most of the time of Nashville's existence.

It's on the lower end of course but not really all that crazy a number for a team starting when they did. There have only been 130 40+ G scorers since '98. And obviously a whole bunch of those are repeats for the same teams.

Which makes it even more impressive. He could've gone over 50 goals if he would've played the whole season and with a PP that actually worked.
Actually it’s his hustle and tenacity that creates most of his goals unfortunately that is also what creates most of his injuries.

Plus the Predators used the PP differently this season.
To them it was actually used as 2 minutes of defense and the point was to prevent the other team from scoring and them wasting 1:30 of prime defending time by scoring a goal 30 seconds in was counterproductive. With only 8 ShortHanded goals given up in 252 PowerPlays (97% effective) they were highly successful at the PowerPlay!!!!

So you are welcome NHL, for them finally solving the real reason the PowerPlay exists!

Since 98-99 the Kings, Canadiens, and Coyotes also didn't have any 40 goal scorers so it's not like we're unique in not having one over that time period.

Interestingly too, as a team we have been a fairly low scoring team but we're not the most offensively inept either. Of the 27 teams in the league when we joined we are 18th in goal scoring. We also have a higher goals for per game played than the Wild and Blue Jackets who joined after us, but are behind the Jets/Thrashers and Knights.

Yeah, but from my point of view, he's very under-used on Nashville's PP. He has wicked shot.

Truly a mindbreaking breakthrough in the world of hockey that is. I don't understand how all the other franchises haven't copied it to be honest. :sarcasm:
