Why would the Avs add to Zadorov for Poehling?
Because Zadorov won't be cost controlled for much longer and hasn't proved he's a capable top 4 defenseman. He has arbitration right this summer + khl possibility, he's also 3 years away from UFA status. Colorado also have a few very good prospects coming in on defense, which would make Zadorov expendable.

I have no interest from the habs perspective to give Poehling for Zadorov. I want to see what we have in Poehling before giving up on him for a player that seems more and more like a bottom pairing D with great physical tools, but prone to defensive mistakes.

No chance the AVs make this deal for another winger with little offensive skills. They have enough in their system and unless the Habs add their 1st, they’ll get a much better deal elsewhere.

I failed to see any Avs fan raising Poehling in this discussion. It was Montreal fans, who are now promptly discussing how great Poehling is for some reason.

The fact is that Lehkonen is a nice player, but Zadorov, for whatever faults he may have, is a more valuable player to Colorado than Lehkonen in trade. I think most intelligent Montreal fans would understand that point.

The easiest no in the world from the Avs. Middle 6 wingers don't get young top 4 dmen. (Also any one who cites Zads playing on the 3rd line this year doesn't understand the situation well enough to have a meaningful opinion imo)

How is Lehkonen not a 30 point player?

he is not only a 30p player..... Amazing PK killer, one of the best defensive F of his age, great overall ethics but only lacks the finishing touch ( just like Hertl last year but look at him this year). I can link the Advanced stats too but you will be overly impressed...

it'S like saying Stone is a 60p player, but Stone overall game brings him at a superstar level in the league.
some players are way more than just points...

People have a fetish over Zadorov it's crazy! The guy never showed he had the brain to match his physical tool... unless he somehow figure things out all of a sudden, he won't be a top 4 defenseman in nhl, atleast not on a playoff team. People asking or saying they would take/give a first round pick for this guy are blinded by his physical tools and hits highlights. I get that Lehkonen is not that attractive, but come on... this guy is not worth a 1st rounder with the lack of progression in his game, arbitration right this summer, UFA in 3 years, needs to be protected in the upcoming expansion draft & is currently not a top 4 defenseman. Jake Muzzin, a much better defenseman, was added for a first and 2 B-prospect...

The fact is that an Avs fan did not start this thread. Avs fans for the most part are complimentary of Lehkonen, but are also generally stating that Zadorov fills a more important role for the organization than Lehkonen.

You can proceed to bash Zadorov now, whatever. He is not a perfect player, as most Avs fans would readily admit, but they are also not clamoring to trade him due to the organizational hole it would leave (generally speaking - some fans may be).

If Zadorov leaves with no viable replacement, it means that Barberio and Nemeth have to play more while the Avs are trying to make the playoffs. Conceptually, the problem with that situation should be readily apparent IMO.

I’m still not seeing where saying he is a 30 point forward was wrong.

It would be like saying Stone is a point per game forward, which he is and has been.

Big Sugar brought it up. Judging by his question he doesn't sound like a Habs fan at all. None of the habs posters even talked about how great Poehling is, I just said he's one of our best prospects. Do you even read the posts cause you're lost man.

I don't appreciate the personal attack. If you want to try to have a reasonable discussion, then it should be workable.

I'm not bashing him at all. I just think it would be wrong to put that kind of price tag on him.

it's not wrong, but you purposely ignore his strengths and focus on his only negative point.

Your the kind of guy who walks with blinders.
I never ignored anything.

I stated a simple fact which you have somehow taken as an insult to Lehkonen.

He does not fit the Avs needs. I don’t know why this upsets you so much.

it doesn't ? but I hate people who ignore facts and only look at points like it's the only acceptable stats.

Anyway, Zadorov is a 0.2 ppg player, not like he's worth Lehkonen.

... says the Habs fan

If Lehkonen is such an effective player, why doesn't Montreal keep him?

Too much quantity on the wings? Bit of a logjam?

Colorado has one too, and Lehkonen only adds to it. A pointless trade to begin with, made even worse by the fact that they're moving Zadorov in the deal.

But that Avs poster is the one with the blinders on, right? Get over yourself.

Speaking of stuff that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, watching Lehkonen try to pass to Drouin on a 2-on-1 with an empty net last night was one of the dumbest things I've seen since Comeau's breakaway drop pass 2 years ago.

Yes, I was at the game. Couldn't believe it.
You can see he has no confidence right not and as expected, some habs fans want to trade him because he's in a rough stretch offensively. At mid-season he was on pace for 46 pts or something, but hasn't been doing much offensively in the last 20 games. At least he's still effective when he's not scoring. He skates well, forchecks fast, good 2-way play and penalty kill.

True, as bad of a decision that was, he was right back out there for the next 6-on-4 faceoff and was the guy that got the puck back out of the zone.

No chance I’m trading Poehling for Zadorov. With that being said, the Avs shouldn’t trade Zadorov for Lehkonen.

I think this about sums up the thread.

Also, Lehkonen remains a 30-point forward.

Essentially, this just turned into a pissing contest of intangibles to try to justify that Lehkonen is better lol. I'm a fan of neither team and couldn't care less about either player, but come on.
