Am rooting for him to make it with the Sabres but that seems far from certain.

Given the off-season acquisitions by Buffalo it looks like barring a surprise he would start in the AHL with Rochester.

Further, if you look at the top scorers in Liiga with the exception of Florida first-round pick Anton Lundell none are highly-regarded NHL prospects; including several former US college players who topped out at the ECHL or AHL level.

Buffalo could really challenge for a playoff spot next year if Ullmark can hold the fort down.

They have a solid top 6 forward group and some size in the bottom 6. If this guy and Cozens prove ready that’s a decent talent add for the bottom 6

All of this is true. And while that’s a bit of cold water, I still think there’s an impressive skill set there.

Since he's from Oulu I had assumed he was related to former NHL defenseman Reijjo Ruotsalainen. But there is no mention of that on his elite prospect page.
