The Islanders allowed 30 more goals against than the team you just described as the worst in the Metro division. They allowed 40 more goals against than the next worst team in the divison who was starting potentially the worst goalie in the league last season in Darling.

Why is it that only the Islanders seem to allow so many GA in that division? Maybe they're atrocious defensively?

Lmao, I went back and checked just for you:

3 games against Buffalo, 9 goals against (3.00 GAA)
3 games against Ottawa, 10 goals against (3.34 GAA)
3 games against Montreal, 13 goals against (4.34 GAA)
3 games against Detroit, 15 goals against (5.00 GAA)

I know you're not going to reply to this like you normally don't after getting proven wrong, but "I am here to help".

Hi @The Winter Soldier.

I'm here to help as well. I couldn't help but notice that you refuse to answer when a poster turns you into a mental pretzel. I quoted these two posts above so that you could easily find them all in one place.

Looking forward to your response. It's weird how you're wrong again when you preach 'fact checking'.

Why are we bashing the islanders? They’ve been consistently inconsistent. Playoffs one year and miss the next 2 years. We’re due up this year!

And can we please stop turning every isles related thread into attacking a single poster. Adds nothing to the discussion.

Tavares will meet with teams i the legal tampering window. Toronto LA and SJ will be high on his list.

Discuss.

Not gonna argue cuz Hockey is really present in Cali but it’s completely different media/pressure playing in Toronto

Playing in Toronto is on a whole other planet compared to anywhere else when it comes to hockey. When a 4th liner gets scratched there is actually big coverage of it, like it is big news, anywhere else you don't even get a whiff of it.

Honestly I sympathize with you guys after years of Wilson/Carlyle hockey, I really hope Lou brings in a coach that reduces the amount of heart attacks and broken TVs in NY. Anyone should be an improvement on Weight in that regard anyway.

They were not last year.

it what world are you living in ? SURE they won' finish first every freaking time but they will still carry in the playoff or in the general shift of the game. why do you think the game is that fast and every teams is shifting to it ? Partly because Pittsburgh won championships with a fast transition team so other team copied the winner.

Getting the right owners and right management was huge. Coach is the next big step but Snow being gone was a gigantic move in the right direction.

If I were him, I'd come to Toronto, the Islanders wasted a decade of his life and didn't have the balls to pull off any big moves, he should come to Toronto and go down as a legend for winning the cup which is extremely doable with him on our roster at a decent price.

Inb4 "muh pressure" we already have our big 3, Tavares just has to not suck ass and once we win the cup he goes down as a living legend with lifetime endorsements in whatever he wants thus earning way more money than he ever could on the Island.

Goodbye Carter and Muzzin or Martinez. I think that’s the how.

Obviously I would love the Devils to snag Tavares, but if he signs with LA that 1.) Keeps him out of the east 2.) Could make a nice target for Shero's yearly cap casualty on the low pickup.

Then him wanting to sign in LA would also have to BS LA and "low pressure" is not a thing
LA is very low pressure community wise. It’s a huge city (7 million in just the city alone not counting the county of Los Angeles), all of the players live in Manhattan Beach which is an exclusive little beachside town and they really do get to live out of the spotlight since LA’s also a city full of MLB/NFL/NBA Superstars and Musicians Directors, Producers and actors who are all much higher profile people. NHL players have good life’s in California. Additionally the NHL is the #4 pro sport in LA even though most Kings games are sold out well in advance.

*ahem*

ok ok likely not, but we should still be in this conversation lol

Naw Tavares to the leafs is mostly just clickbait for the fans. JT is going to be paid whatever he wants anyways so doing a 1 year max deal isn't that much of an incentive.

Not only is Tor's cap space a mirage as much of that will be needed for the young core extensions but they don't need him that badly already their top 6 centers in Matthews and Kadri.

They'll need that capspace to address their god awful D and will need to actually manage their cap well to find proper depth now that you aren't getting godly production from 3 kids on their ELCs.

Tor is competitive so its not as bad as MTL fans thinking they have a chance but it really doesn't make that much sense when all is said and done.

Tavares will stick around cause I put money on it with my friend and I never lose. :naughty:

I honestly hope he does stick around, him and Barzal is an awesome 1a-1b punch.

Top five destinations for John Tavares | The Hockey News
So I guess since they didn't mention the Leafs as a possible destination everyone is ok with that, however when Staple mentions the Leafs all hell breaks lose.

I find it funny to see Montreal listed on there because they are far from being a contender next season and long after that.

montreal has a gaping hole at center, lots of cap space and no notorious rfa's to re-sign

Goodbye Carter and Muzzin or Martinez. I think that’s the how.

Incorrect. If cap goes up to 80 mil and Kings sign Tavares for 10 mil...trade Toffoli and our #20 pick for a top 10 pick. We would then have 3-4 mil in cap space after this....

Top 10 pick-Kopitar-Brown
Pearson-Tavares-Carter
Iafallo-Kempe-Vilardi
Clifford-Amadio-Lewis

Yes, we would have to move someone next summer to make room for Doughtys new contract. This is solved easily by moving Martinez and promoting Clague...this saves another 4 mil in cap.

In terms of being in contention to make the playoffs and wanting to win a Stanley Cup, Toronto is a lot closer than Montreal.
thats undeniable. also, i'm pretty sure that list he created are just teams that he believes has the best chances of acquiring his services. i don't think any source or anything persuaded that list whatsoever

If that's true I'm surprised Toronto was not included if it was based on a guess.
toronto has to sign their big 3 which will take up a lot of the cap. they also need to fix their blueline dramatically and that will be expensive if they don't trade marner/nylander for a blueliner. thats probably his thinking.
