Every report I read said he only meet with Toronto and it was after that he decided to re-sign in Tampa Bay.
This is what I thought as well

The Islanders allowed 30 more goals against than the team you just described as the worst in the Metro division. They allowed 40 more goals against than the next worst team in the divison who was starting potentially the worst goalie in the league last season in Darling.
Why is it that only the Islanders seem to allow so many GA in that division? Maybe they're atrocious defensively?
Lmao, I went back and checked just for you:
3 games against Buffalo, 9 goals against (3.00 GAA)
3 games against Ottawa, 10 goals against (3.34 GAA)
3 games against Montreal, 13 goals against (4.34 GAA)
3 games against Detroit, 15 goals against (5.00 GAA)
I know you're not going to reply to this like you normally don't after getting proven wrong, but "I am here to help".
Not gonna argue cuz Hockey is really present in Cali but it’s completely different media/pressure playing in Toronto
Here are some links which say he only meet with the Leafs and no other teams. This is what I thought as well
Why are we bashing the islanders? They’ve been consistently inconsistent. Playoffs one year and miss the next 2 years. We’re due up this year!
They were not last year.
Honestly I sympathize with you guys after years of Wilson/Carlyle hockey, I really hope Lou brings in a coach that reduces the amount of heart attacks and broken TVs in NY. Anyone should be an improvement on Weight in that regard anyway.
Goodbye Carter and Muzzin or Martinez. I think that’s the how.How can LA afford him?

LA is very low pressure community wise. It’s a huge city (7 million in just the city alone not counting the county of Los Angeles), all of the players live in Manhattan Beach which is an exclusive little beachside town and they really do get to live out of the spotlight since LA’s also a city full of MLB/NFL/NBA Superstars and Musicians Directors, Producers and actors who are all much higher profile people. NHL players have good life’s in California. Additionally the NHL is the #4 pro sport in LA even though most Kings games are sold out well in advance. Then him wanting to sign in LA would also have to BS LA and "low pressure" is not a thing
*ahem*
ok ok likely not, but we should still be in this conversation lol
Signing Tavares means cutting lose Carter or Taffoli or Pearson or Muzzin or Martinez for picks and depth and lowering our cap hit and to be able to re-sign Doughty.la's issue is depth. signing tavares would eliminate any chance of getting depth
So I guess since they didn't mention the Leafs as a possible destination everyone is ok with that, however when Staple mentions the Leafs all hell breaks lose.According to the Hockey News via Matt Larkin, no paywall.
Top 5 JT destinations.

NJ Devils
St Louis Blues
SJ Sharks
VGK
Keep an eye on
Pittsburg (Interesting)

montreal has a gaping hole at center, lots of cap space and no notorious rfa's to re-signSo I guess since they didn't mention the Leafs as a possible destination everyone is ok with that, however when Staple mentions the Leafs all hell breaks lose.
I find it funny to see Montreal listed on there because they are far from being a contender next season and long after that.

In terms of being in contention to make the playoffs and wanting to win a Stanley Cup, Toronto is a lot closer than Montreal.montreal has a gaping hole at center, lots of cap space and no notorious rfa's to re-sign
He's probably hiding in his mom's basement and no amount to tendies will consol himLmao, I went back and checked just for you:

thats undeniable. also, i'm pretty sure that list he created are just teams that he believes has the best chances of acquiring his services. i don't think any source or anything persuaded that list whatsoeverIn terms of being in contention to make the playoffs and wanting to win a Stanley Cup, Toronto is a lot closer than Montreal.
If that's true I'm surprised Toronto was not included if it was based on a guess.thats undeniable. also, i'm pretty sure that list he created are just teams that he believes has the best chances of acquiring his services. i don't think any source or anything persuaded that list whatsoever
toronto has to sign their big 3 which will take up a lot of the cap. they also need to fix their blueline dramatically and that will be expensive if they don't trade marner/nylander for a blueliner. thats probably his thinking. If that's true I'm surprised Toronto was not included if it was based on a guess.
