Digging further, there appears to be nothing to be concerned about:

Khisamutdinov received a minor injury in Sunday’s game, he could have continued but his coach decided against it.

According to this, you don't sustain an injury in Russia but you "receive" it, like a gift. :sarcasm:

received an injury is perfectly good English, although a bit formal and out of fashion.

receive an injury/blow | meaning of receive an injury/blow in Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English | LDOCE

sustained etymologically comes from sub+ tenir (to hold), so sub hold, beneath hold, or less than hold. Basically, holding an injury, whis is also weird if you over analyze it.

The most accurate is to use injured as a verb: he was injured ....:teach:

It’s just not commonly used so I thought I’d attempt some humor out of it. And you know what happens when someone completely misses the levity in it and takes it too literally? Oh well, maybe next time.

And yes, I suppose I could have also spelled it “humour”.

Any info on what his injury is and if he's out for long or will return soon?

It looked like he was holding his knee or leg on the bench so I thought maybe he got hit with a shot but he did look to be in pain. Getting info from the KHL is really tough as I just use the KHL site or elite prospects. Sounds like he will return soon, he could be ready now and they just opted not to play him last game (yesterday) as he's been in and out of the lineup.

I don't think Norlinder will be brought over. There are SHL teams interested in signing him. And I would think Montreal would rather let him develop in the SHL before bringing him over here.

In terms of European prospects, I think Romanov and Ylönen are the priorities. Olofsson is still under contract next year, so I think they will let him stay there another year. And we'll see how it goes for Ikonen. They have his rights until June 2021. But he's barely played the last two years. So I don't know if they want to let him play the year before making a decision. Or if they choose to sign him and bring him over where they can also monitor him more closely.

We also have to keep in mind the NCAA and CHL prospects who may be signed, particularly the CHL ones whose rights expire this year (McShane, Hillis, Houde, and Fonstad). There are also RHP and Khisamutdinov, who Timmins pretty much said the reason they drafted them was so they don't get in line in a year to convince them to sign here as free agents. So chances are they will be coming in. However, they hold Khisamutdinov's rights for a while longer and an option they have with RHP is sign him to an AHL deal next year and his ELC after.

Arsen always hasn't really been that good from the way it's been posted, but over here with more ice time might be better for him and allow him to break out.

He hasn't been great with very limited TOI in the KHL, but he has 6pts in 7gp in the VHL.

yeah he's probably just down in the V for a conditioning stint? Seems like he did well in the K. Not writing him off yet at all. We can afford to be patient with him.

Ylonen hopefully picks it up. Mrb1p could be right about him. Mrb1p might be one of the better if not the best prospect evaluators on this board. Worried he seems to be souring a bit on KK. At least I think he is.

Khisamutdinov - 0 pts, 1 shot, 4 pims, 1 hit, 13:03 TOI. I tried to catch the 3rd but the stream was crap so I just shut it off. On to watch Olofsson.
That's 3rd line minutes, which is pretty good for him. If he could stay in the KHL and consistently be getting that usage I'd have no problems at all.

for his first game back it is solid ice time, he's been up and down in TOI,

12:51
9:43
10:08
10:17
13:15
14:36
15:02
6:36
4:39
:13
13:03

he was just starting to get regular shits/TOI from 10-7, 9 and 10th where he had the 13, 14, 15+ mins but then he got injured, they didn't play him much then not all but hopefully now he can stick all year as the team has picked it up in the standings.

Hi there, I wanted to know a bit more about this enigmatic player: Arsen Khisamutdinov and the league he plays in: the VHL. Does the caliber of the league is comparable with the AHL? Also, he seems to have as many points as other players who've played between 35-50 games. It's his last contract year with CSK VVS Samara; do you see him making the move to the AHL? Finally, what Arsen needs to improve to impress in the AHL?

The VHL is ABSOLUTELY not comparable to the AHL.

Case in point, Alexei Lipanov:
