The go-to lines the year Kessel broke out were:

Lucic-Savard-Kessel
Wheeler-Krejci-Ryder
Axelsson-Bergeron-Kobasew/Recchi (at the deadline)

Before that Kessel was kind of all over the place, but very rarely with Bergeron. There was Savard, Sturm, Lucic, Axelsson, Schaefer, Kobasew, Bochenski, Tenkrat, etc. but nothing you could call a consistent line really. The Bergeron line was mostly Sturm-Bergeron-Boyes before his injury in 2007/08. Boyes was dealt in 2006/07 but that was hot shit back in the day (even though the team was also hot shit).

But yeah, anyways, if you're looking for a go-to line when he broke out, it was definitely Lucic-Savard-Kessel

Everybody is treating Caps/Pens like they're locks, but the Metro is so ridiculously competitive that everyone just seems to be turning a blind eye to it. They're like "Oh they're 3rd and 4th in the league so they're just coasting, but meanwhile by the time Pittsburgh plays again on Wednesday they could be looking at standings that look like this:

1. Capitals - 82 P (63 GP, 29 RW)
2. Penguins - 80 P (61 GP, 26 RW)
3. Flyers - 79 P (63 GP, 26 RW)
4. Blue Jackets - 78 P (65 GP, 25 RW)
5. Islanders - 77 P (62 GP, 24 RW)
6. Hurricanes - 76 P (62 GP, 27 RW)
7. Rangers - 72 P (62 GP, 30 RW)

There's a good 20 games left, and only the top 5 (at most) make it in. I don't think they'll miss, but the top teams in the Metro are far from any type of lock.

By the way guys, another question:

How would you compare Kessel with Pastrnak as a player/scorer, stylistically speaking?

Completely different. Kessel thing was to streak down the wing and get off his deadly wrister. He hated contact and the dirty areas and relied on his blazing speed. Pastrnak is a park and shoot it guy, or a dangle through the slot guy. He's not a banger, but he's not as soft as Kessel (nobody is) and he will go to the net and/or dirty areas. His one timer is top 3 in the league (only Ovechkin and Stamkos are in his tier), and he's deadly on the PP because of it. He's also far more productive. Kessel is a "40 goal scorer" (ask Leafs fans) who never actually hit 40 goals.
