Tremendous pass from Marner on that last goal. Put it right on Tristan Scherwey's stick all alone in the slot.

Only issue is that Tristan Scherwey plays for Ottawa.

He had another one right after where Spezza totally just turned away from it's weakness like there was no way it was his pass.

Or we are talking same giveaway lol ... beers edit

That came out of nowhere. If Buff does decide to call it quits, that will mean that Winnipeg will have lost its three RHD this off season (including Myers and Trouba). It's too bad that Boston's trove of defense prospects are all LHD, save for Axel, whom I imagine is not available. It's a shame that Miller is out, and probably for a while, because he could be traded to Winnipeg. If a deal can somehow be worked out with the Jets, then it would be great to see Boston bring Jack Roslovic in return (C/RW, right shot, 1st-round pick in 2015).

Chabot signs for 8x8 in Ottawa

Looking forward to people saying the McAvoy deal that was universally loved a few days ago was actually bad because they should have signed him to a long-term deal like this.

8m per that’s ridiculous. Although it will probably look good in 3-4 years. Overpayment now.

Context. The Senators have been a PR nightmare, and their team is awful. They almost had to overpay for Chabot. Not many teams in the league would give him THAT contract right now.

It's easy for a team nowhere near the salary cap to over-pay now and lock-up a player to a rich 8 year deal.

Not so easy for a team like the Bruins who will have cap constraints this year and in the seasons immediately following this one.

Yeah, this one is weird

Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk was forced to go to court to get his company's private jet back from an aviation company that was holding it over an unpaid debt.

In an email to CBC, Melnyk's lawyer, Robert Brush, acknowledged a "dispute developed over Flightpath's invoices," but Melnyk's company "voluntarily paid into court the full amount of money that Flightpath claims it is owed."

Stupid teams and owners like this one is what screws other good run teams. Ridiculous overpayment. Is Chiarelli back there?

A good start to the season could see Clifton and his 1m for 3 year contract have a LOT of trade value.

Shame that there is no chance Backes waives to go there even though the Peg is pretty close to Minnesota. Doing a 4 dimes for a quarter trade with Winnipeg to get Conner or Laine would be fabulous. You could offer them 2 young D men good enough to step in and legit bottom 6 depth.
