Patrick Laine with 5 goals......

.... on five shots.

Finnish hockey is at respectable stage again, Rantanen leading points, Laine leading goals, Rinne leading sv% :yo:

That wasn't a long time ago when Pulkkinen were our best young player, now we have Barkov, Rantanen, Laine, Heiskanen, Aho etc. ...

Appreciate the feedback. I only get to watch a few Coyotes games a year so find it hard to gauge how he is playing. Sure wish he had a top pairing partner to handle some of the load.
SN is covering the Yotes this afternoon. My PVR is set.

Breaking down the bests (and worsts) from the first quarter of the NHL campaign - TheHockeyNews

Comeback player of the year (from being lousy): Max Domi was dreadful last season. Full stop. If anyone needed a change of scenery it was Domi, who appears to have embraced the pressure of playing in Montreal instead of shrinking in the spotlight. The Canadiens exhaustive search for a legitimate No. 1 center might not be over, but Domi is the best they’ve had in a long, long time.

He's probably talking about 15/16.

I do think Domingue has fringe starter level skills. He has a Bryzgalov level mental game though.

Good for him. He didn't hide, he took full responsibilities for his poor play.

Jon Elkin, confirmed idiot.

Descriptor is more fitting for some of the people that blame goalies for goals that aren't their fault. Domingue has obvious talent, he is just like most journeymen in that he needs confidence.

Hawks game is on NBCSN (same time as Yotes game) if anyone is interested in how #17 & #11 look in a "real" hockey market.

Haven't watched, just read their game-thread. Getting the impression Perlini still looked like Perlini, and Strome still like Strome, meaning Strome causes some optimism, and Perlini not so much.

They also was happy #8 still did mistakes. An odd bunch over there.

A franchise center and a generational defenseman...so surprised.

Yes, the draft lottery gods smiled on Buffalo, but they also made some wise trades and acquisitions. They are only a half mil under the cap.

Scott Darling on waivers in Carolina today. There's a guy whose career has been a real roller-coaster. We're only a couple of years removed from the fawning redemption stories that flooded out of Chicago when he was having all that success.

It is a massive step from backup to starter and very few can make that step successfully.
