Dougie with the big -4 tonight. I wonder if anyone still believes he's the best player in that deal.

Hamilton will put up a boatload of points between January and March and everyone will forget about his defensive woes, as always

It literally takes no effort to get under the skin of Oilers fans.

I don't know if I should be happy or disappointed about that

Jesus, the Oil are starting to look scary. The next BoA is gonna be pretty damn exciting.

Looks like Klefbom will be out for awhile. That’ll hurt quite a bit but overall they are playing better team defense so we’ll see

McDavid was build for the Hitch system. One player that can generate a scoring opportunity every rush? Awesome! Let’s trap the hell out of the opponent and then give it to McDavid and see if he can score us a goal.

I'm curious to see how the Oilers do without their #1 D. Klefbom is does a lot for that team's offense in addition to being solid on the back end so that's a big hit to them.

They're still giving up way more chances and high danger chances than they're getting.

Their chance differentials under Hitchcock are the same, if not worse than they were under McLellan.

Literally the only difference is they're getting elite level goaltending since Hitchcock took over (3rd in the NHL)

Yeah but that’s the thing about Hitch, he turns Brian Elliot and Jake Allen into Jennings winners

Hitchcock took the Stars, superior in every category, to a 6th place finish in the Central. The Oilers may be tightening up defensively but their style of play is antiquated and doesn't set them up for long-term success.

We also had stretches under Gulutzan where everything looked like it was clicking and we were finally going to stop underachieving. But then it would all fell apart, "inexplicably", and we would be plodding along, playing .500 hockey expecting the dam to burst again. If the Oilers are still routinely winning games when the 40-60 slog hits, then they deserve a lot of credit

Well this is going to get worse before it gets better lol. Literally a fan running a team except that fan doesn’t know anything about hockey

In the market for a sniper? GM doesn't know anything about hockey? Perhaps they'd be interested in the James Neal for Micheal Ferland special :naughty:

You gotta hand it to Koskinen though. He's doing what Talbot did for them two years ago. Carrying a bad team. With all-world goaltending like that, and San Jose severely underperforming, they're setting themselves up well.

Absolutely. He's been phenomenal.

At the end of the day, they're merely keeping pace with the Golden Knights and Ducks though. While they have games in hand on those two teams, are they as likely to keep up this torrid pace as the Ducks and Golden Knights are? The smart money right now says no

Ducks are basically being carried, only Knights are legit. Oilers have a better chance than the Ducks when you factor sustainability.

Speculation by Flames fans on reddit that say that Ferland wants to come back to Western Canada.

"Heard it from a guy that heard it from another guy" kinda news so take it with a grain of salt, but I bet Treliving would shuffle things around to bring him back if he could
