As a Leaf's fan I said a few days ago that Matthews just doesn't look happy or comfortable in Toronto. It just might be his demeanor but to me he doesn't look like a guy who fits the City. He might grow into it but I don't think he plays his career there.

If, and that's a big IF, the Leafs go all in after Tavares and get him I could easily see a scenario where they go after OEL with Matthews. But I do think the Coyote's add would have to be huge.

After the playoffs Gardiner had, I could see Matthews + Gardiner for an extended OEL, Strome, Domi or something around there. Deal would basically hinge on what Toronto thinks of Strome.

Take Strome out and I'd probably do it. Either Strome or 5OV. Not both.

We could just flip Strome for like Faulk or something later if needs be.

Matthews wants more ice-time and to be used similar to other stars, more PP time, longer shifts, etc. and Babcock I guess doesn't really want to do that. At least that's the gist of it from what I have gathered. Basically he isn't the focal point like Eichel is for Buffalo and McDavid is for EDM because Babs doesn't want it that way and Matthews would prefer it be that way.
