The nice thing is that if Chayka's analytics are worth a damn, he'll have plenty of evidence to see that Boedker is not worth resigning and we won't waste budget dollars on him.

Won't matter if Tippett wants a friendly face back. He sure played him an awful lot for a guy with terrible underlying numbers.

The Tippett advanced stats are no doubt amazing for Moss, Chipchura, and co. I'm sure Boedker's numbers are on par (I say this as someone who has always liked Boedker). GMDT's stats are all that matter

Not all. Some players want to go to a winner, or play for a certain coach, or have stability for family reasons.

I think realistically it's always some of both. If a less desirable team over pays by a lot that's one thing, but I'd bet often there's several close bids for the top guys and the things you posted are big factors.

Certainly can't fault Boedker at going for the money but his agent has absolutely no tact

Will be interesting to see if it works. Didn't get him a contract here at any rate.

Sean McIndoe nails it:

1. Mike Ribeiro—A lack of offense isn't the reason the Predators are facing elimination—prior to Saturday's 5-1 loss, they'd scored four goals in back-to-back games. But with the Sharks looking more and more like a legitimate Cup contender, Nashville will need everyone contributing to win Games 6 and 7. And that includes Ribeiro, a guy who theoretically is a top-six center, but one who's virtually disappeared so far during the playoff run.

Ribeiro has been pointless in the series after recording just one assist in the opening round. He's been so ineffective that he was scratched for Games 3 and 4 against the Sharks. He returned for Game 5, but his only impact on the scoresheet was a misconduct from an end-of-game scrum. Even at 35, he's coming off a decent year, one in which he hit the 50-point mark. But for a guy whose game doesn't contribute much beyond offense, one point in ten games isn't cutting it.

And still there are people who think this team would have been better off keeping him.

We would have been better off two years ago and could have even used his 50 pts this last season, but at this point we're in better shape w/o him and moving forward.

Yea because it's always good to screw yourself out of the best draft position possible. :sarcasm:

Oh about the harder you work the luckier you get comment you made during the season. How lucky did the Coyotes get in the lottery? Oh yea! Still stuck at 7th.

The game is a game of men and the draft is designed to create parity, it's too bad some choose the way of the wimp.

In the never ending Crosby vs Ovie debate

Ovie is the better individual player but Crosby is the better team player.

They really need a new GM in Washington. Even though I don't want Trotz as a coach, he's not the problem in D.C. and I hope he doesn't get canned.

They were the best regular season team. Don't need a GM. President trophy curse and Holtby choked a bit.

Pens tapped a fresh coach and he brought in young guys willing to skate through a wall. Funny how that works for some teams, but is heretical to suggest for others.
