Growing up in leafs nation, I hear this same thing every year, usually followed by the leafs are going win the cup. Neither has happened in my lifetime, so not too pump about first game they play against a very poor senators team.

Sportsnet overpaid for the Canadian NHL rights in 2013 banking on Toronto to become a playoff favorite. They leased out the French rights to TVAS and today both networks are bleeding red ink badly.

It staggers the mind how bad the Maple Leafs have been since 1967 and I think it is partly because they have an iron grip monopoly in most of Ontario.
