@XX made a proposal on the main board that makes me a little sick to my stomach, which I guess means it's close to fair value. Hinostroza+Capobianco+Farinacci+Conditional 2020 pick (1st if he re-signs, 2nd if not). Man, I hate it. But it feels right, in terms of value and fit for both sides (assuming New Jersey is willing to retain some cap on Hall).

I'd definitely do that deal, if NJ retained hella salary on Hall in the bargain. Farinacci would hurt the worst but that'd be a net gain for us this season.

We should stay away from trading for Hall. One, we will have to give up a ton to get him. Two, is he really going to put us over the hump to make the playoffs or a deep run. Three, we will have to pay him $10 mill+ and term as a UFA to keep him. I don't want to do it.
Depends on what we have to give up, and if we can sign him, but I don't see it happening.

Matt Duchene (28 year old CENTER with a 0.75 career ppg) signed for 7yrs, 56mil, 8.00avg.
Artemi Panarin (28 year old WINGER with 1.00 career ppg) signed for 7yrs, 81.5mil, 11.65avg.

Hall is a 28 year old winger with 0.90 career ppg. He's obviously getting seven years. But what's his AVG going to be? Is it just the mid-point, there? 7yrs, 70mil, 10avg?

Don't think he gets ten because of his injuries since leaving Edmonton. Probably 9ish, depending on taxes.

Money isn't really the issue. This team has plenty of dead weight to shed. It's getting Hall to sign.

Would you guys trade Hinostroza, Capobianco, Farinacci, a 2020 1st and a 2021 2nd for Taylor Hall with a 7 year, 70 million dollar contract?

Also, how late can we acquire him and still give him the 8th year? If we trade for him before January, are we eligible to offer the 8th year? That might be one factor in our favor.

I think as long as he is on your team before trade deadline he is eligible for 8th year.

What exactly does anyone think he will do here? You could argue NJ has better overall talent. He's not a game changer...hardly anyone is that's expensive...see Nashville.

Was perusing Cap Friendly because of the talk about cap hits with Hall.

Next season our cap hit is the same as this year is right now.

But with only 17 contracts against 23. Big reason is Keller's contract kicking in.

I think that is too much to pay both in the trade and in salary. For $10 million I hope they can get a real #1 C.

Yeah but Panarin sure got paid and he’s a winger.
But I am talking not wanting to pay $10 million for Hall when the team's #1 C is a 2C. Also, Panarin is much better IMO and the Rangers have Zibanajed.

Easy yes.

Hinostroza is a 40ish point player with 50 point potential. Capo right now isn't good enough to make the NHL. I think his ceiling is in the Jason Demers tier of players. Farinacci was a 3rd round pick. Don't care to see him go.

And then 2 picks.

There's a chance we could be giving up only 1 NHL player for an elite one. Most likely 3 decent to good players for 1 elite signed long term. Do it any day of the week.

That Scott Laughton in Philadelphia is a real grade A sh*t disturber. Type of guy everyone would hate to play against but would love on our roster. What a day he had today against Ottawa...

Judging by his preseason it looks like Jenik has a knack for getting under opponents skin.
