Lmao, 4 goals on 20 shots so far.
Nothing would make me lol harder than seeing Tippett’s arousal for playing Smitty 60 games a year tank the Oil’s entire season.

If Smitty's head's on straight this year, he probably finishes about .910. He'll have an equal amount of games above .95 and below .88. Lots of both.
He'll have games where he absolutely steals points, looks unstoppable, and his puckhandling skills create breakouts (and a pass to Connor is a lot more exciting than one to Kyle "he's like Datsyuk" Chipchura).
Then he'll have games where he gives up a two goal leads "he'd like to have back", but then tightens up.
Then he'll have games where you wonder if he knows he is in net tonight, and marvel that he has an NHL job.
That's all you can realistically expect.
Yes but mentally strong.
I imagine Keller shares your opinion.I would love to have Lucic in this team for 4th line money. I’d love to have Rinaldo on this team. I wish we had a mean bastard with zero respect for the code and a short fuse when someone effs with his teammates.
Is Buff still suspended by Winnipeg? Would he like to play here? Line him up as a forward.
Crouse, who's been invisible the first 2 games, should drop the gloves on his first shift Thursday. It would spark the team and player.I would love to have Lucic in this team for 4th line money. Tip/Smith are 2-0, just sayingBest part is Smith set up two LA goals last night. One when he came out to play the puck, and another mishandle behind the net.
I bet his puck playing actually causes more goals than it produces.
I would say there is a pretty good chance that Edmonton makes the playoffs this season AND that Dave Tippett wins ANOTHER Jack Adam's.Tip/Smith are 2-0, just saying
A good NHL coach will always be a good NHL coach regardless of what ever is thrown at them. They can change systems depending on what they are given. The reason most good coaches get fired is because the players get tired of hearing the same old voice and it gives the GM time to save his own job, it has nothing to do with fit. Good NHL coaches stay in the league a long time because they are good, and most have been with many teams.I would say there is a pretty good chance that Edmonton makes the playoffs this season AND that Dave Tippett wins ANOTHER Jack Adam's.
None of that changes the fact that he was fired at least one season too late by the Coyotes. Probably not more than two seasons too late, however. He became a bad fit for the team, and it's really that simple. He's a really good fit for Edmonton right now. He will not be by the third or fourth year there. If they give him a long extension, it will be a mistake.
There's really nothing wrong with that. He's a good coach in the right situation and not so good in other situations. Edmonton's bright young stars are already established NHL players, and the youngsters not on the roster yet, really aren't that critical to overall franchise health. If Yamamoto and Puljujarvi get dealt for established vets that can help strengthen depth, and solidify the roster top-to-bottom, that's probably a really good thing for that club. Bouchard and Broberg will be interesting, but they'll probably be okay.
Dave Tippett is a shitty fit for a rebuilding team. He should be a great fit for an underachieving team. When talking about good coaches, you couldn't be more wrong about "fit". Far from having "nothing to do with it", it's the single most important component.A good NHL coach will always be a good NHL coach regardless of what ever is thrown at them. Jakey is right, a good coach is a good coach, its not about fit. You know this when a coach has success at one stop and goes to another team and also succeeds, some coaches have done this including Tip, some have not like Todd McClellan. Dallas/AZ/Edmonton are completely different teams, in different situations. A good coach gets the most out of what he has to work with, he makes it all fit, not the other way around.Dave Tippett is a ****ty fit for a rebuilding team.
