where we left off:
Bergeron is injured for 4 weeks.
Tampa's goalie has a fractured foot.
NSH is the best team in the league (by 1 point)
PIT is in a tailspin
and..

all these coaches are being fired!
(Yeo and McLellan the latest causalities)

and...go!!

These coach firings could signal that there is a GM ready for pickings. Find one and convince him that Nylander is the answer to their problems/prayers.

There are going to be lots of teams trying to play catch up now. If we decide to trade Nylander, the season so far helps our cause.

how has Chiarelli not been fired? The Oilers could probably look something like this without his dumb trades and some better drafting

Tkachuk-McDavid-Eberle
Hall-Barzal-Draisaitl
Beauvillier-RNH-Yamamoto
Benson-Brodziak-Kassian

Klefbom-Schultz
Nurse-Benning
Russell-Bear

they could have been a perennial cup contender, and put together a good package for Hamilton to set their defense up too. Blaming the coach makes no sense

why was Stevens fired because Quick got injured and the team is slow and can't score?
is the way of things.

Chiarelli has done an insanely bad job in Edmonton. No way he ever ends up as a GM in the NHL again. Will probably have to get a friend to hire him to some random position in a front office to keep working.

With Vasi out and Boston being depleted, would be a good time to start racking up enough points to give the Leafs enough cushion to secure the top spot in the East heading into the post season

Bergeron and 6 defensemen out for the Bruins right now. We better beat them next week with an AHL defense + Krug.

I'm not just talking about the upcoming game vs Boston

With Matthews back shortly and with the whole Nylander saga concluding with either a singing, trade or sitting, we will finally see a "complete" Leafs lineup while the other 2 powerhouses of the Atlantic are still hurting. Mind you TBL have still been playing well with their backup since they have a great D to help him out.

What about Chara being out indefinitely and only being re-evaluated in 4 weeks? :D

Kings players admit John Stevens was fired because there is...
Though it may have made players realize management was willing to push harsher buttons to affect the team, it’s unclear if this move can get the team’s “passion” back or make it more “emotionally involved,” in Blake’s words.

After Desjardins’ first practice Monday, players said they understood they had to change something about the way they played. They got the fact that the well-liked Stevens and popular assistant coach Don Nachbaur were fired for the players’ shortcomings and that they couldn’t continue this way if they wanted to make the postseason.

“I think that that (passion) was certainly an issue, but that’s something that comes from within the individual,” defenseman Alec Martinez said. “I think that there was clearly something off. We weren’t playing the way that we could have, or we were obviously falling short to the capabilities of each guy in this room. This is not on John. This is on us."

Disturbing play and lack of emotion -- Why the Kings made...
According to Blake, the primary reason for making the coaching change only a month into the new season was his desire to see a more inspired and committed Kings team. Blake said he already saw disturbing signs back in the exhibition season over the team’s collective lack of passion – and thought a coaching change now could help salvage a season in which they are in last place in the eight-team Pacific Division, eight points out of the second wild card spot, currently held by the San Jose Sharks.

“Right from the start of camp, we’ve been keeping an eye on the team,” said Blake. “It hasn’t gone the way we expect it too, and we haven’t played the way we expected to. What Willie will bring – and what we want to bring back is – we want to get the compete level up in our players. We’ve got to get the passion back in the game. We expect fully that he can right that and takes us in the right direction.”

Leafs fan: makes an on topic but negative point
Oilers fans: **** you Leafs suck
Leafs fan: no they don't
everyone: wow Leafs fans turn everything into a Leafs thread

you really have to laugh at this point. Oilers fans are the most insecure people on the planet, although I get where they're coming from
Wonder how long until the Leafs are to blame for Hitchcock's hiring

Wish someone could post Bruins stats with Chara in and out of their lineup.

Unlike the Leafs missing Matthews/Nylander, I bet the Bruins missing Chara correlates to majority of their success, Krug & tough guys co. continue to be Polak's punching bags :D

Hitch is a great coach, but this is just going to keep Chia in his job longer. A pity, I think hockey fans in general deserve to see McDavid more in the playoffs

I thought Hitchcock had retired. Things are going to be interesting in Edmonton with Hitchcock. He's super into mind games. As a Scotty Bowman type of hockey mind, I think he's the style of old school with a higher IQ and openness to new things that might easily adapt to/appreciate the changing face of hockey.

wait what? 6 of their D are injured?

EDIT: after looking it up, they are indeed without Chara, Mcavoy, Vaakanainen, Moore, Millar, and Carlo. Wow.
