Which makes sense. If they did it anytime the Caps scored 2 or more, they'd always be giving away half-price pizza in DC.

But that doesn't explain why the Canes need 3 and the Jackets need 2, when their offenses have been similar.

Surely it’s a matter of negotiation between the team and the local chain management? I don’t know how it works exactly, but a 2-goal deal seems like it would be more valuable than a 3-goal deal.

You guys luckily don't need Canes 3 goals to get 50off of Papas. State, UNC, and Duke are all partnered for the same deal if they win for both football and basketball. The Durham Bulls are partenered as well and you get 50 off if they win, and they play like every other day when the season is going.

I'm guessing the Chicago area has way more good pizza options, so the local franchisees agree to lower goal amounts to help drive demand. Just a wild guess though.

Yeah there’s really no good reason to ever pay full price on PJs around here. At most, just wait a couple of days.

I'd imagine it has to do with the competition in the local area. Why would you order a pizza from a chain in Chicago when you get take out from an actual restaurant, esp. now that you can get delivery from literally anywhere through postmates/uber eats /grubhub?

tho the canes used to be 50% off after a win, not score 3 goals, so i dunno.

Also, Islanders lose in OT. Off of this goal:

I mean, I know there's the whole "glass houses" thing by saying this, but Jesus, I'm not sure if the defense/goaltender could have played that worse.

Leipsic with 5 points in 3 games after being a castoff from the island of misfit toys. Nobody on the Canes outside of Aho has the confidence or Capone’s to go steal a puck and juke the goalie in overtime. Sad to see a healthy scratch 4th liner getting it done like that.

Well, yeah, fairly sure it's illegal to take a baseball bat out on the ice and use it to off another player.

So I was looking at upcoming free agents and their stats.

Henrik Sedin has 2 goals & 41 assists this year.

I thought that was crazy. That has to be a record for forwards in assists to goals differentials.

As of right now, Sedin would be the only player in NHL history with 2 or fewer goals and 40 or more assists at the same time.

A number of defensemen have had 2g+30a type seasons, but the forward who comes closest is Art Chapman of the 1938 New York Americans, who had 2 goals and 27 assists. Even finding a forward with 2+20 is exceedingly uncommon. Dallas Drake and Oleg Petrov (both 2+24) are the only other forwards who have done it, ever.

So yes, he's on the verge of setting a seriously fluky record. Something that won't be touched for a LONG time unless they change the scoring system or something.

FWIW, Matt Carle has the all time goal:assist ratio record, with 1 goal and 39 assists in 2011.
