Looks like Cam gave up a lot of goals tonight again. Based on the numbers, I'll assume it was far from entirely his fault though.

Skinner scored again, so it may be time for one of his streaks.

When he hatted in the previous games on the empty net, there was a guy complaing on the Buffalo board that he's padding his stats for UFA and that he should have given it to his captain.

I must stress: a guy. The others didn't quite see it eye to eye with him.

From the main board, it sounded like Ward was one of the bright spots for most of the game.

As bad as it was in Carolina at times, we never allowed 33 shots in a period.

Eichel was trying to get him the puck repeatedly with the goalie pulled on the first shift they had with the empty net (they pulled the goalie with 4 minutes left). Even if he had passed to Eichel he was only going to try and give it back for the hatrick. The whole team was trying to cycle it to him late.

When the Islanders were bought by Wang, and he attempted to go the Dundon route by trying to have everyone's roles overlapping with everyone else's roles and have group talks about everything that was going to happen with team - I believe also including him in the meetings. He did this after he hired famous Rangers GM Neil Smith, famous head coach Ted Nolan and brought back hugely popular Pat Lafontaine as a consultant/assistant (?). If I recall properly, no one had understood this was the plan prior to being hired so after basically the first meeting Neil Smith was gone. As was Lafontaine I think. It was quite the dumpster fire and not the way the new ownership wanted to start off.

So that's the joke on why Smith was going to attend Wang's funeral and then going to be escorted out 40 minutes later.

And also why so many people rolled their eyes at our new owner setting up the team the way he did.
